The Zoom In Group is part of the Advocacy Project which is at PCVS on Lincoln Road.
Speaking up for yourself and others helps you get your voice and opinion heard. We try to get people to make the right decisions about things that affect you.
At the same time you can make new friends and listen to other people and overcome being shy.
At the moment we are a small group of adults with learning disabilities. There is:
Mark - I live on my own in a rented flat. I feel strongly about public transport and have been campaigning to get the free bus pass times changed so you can use it before 9.30am and get drivers trained so they understand that they need to support us when using th buses.
I am a big football fan and like going to see bands and listening to music.
Michael - I have just turned 22 and I use the buses on my own. I go to college and do an Independent Living Course. I volunteer on Thursday mornings at Sue Ryder Care and at PCVS. I go to the Friday Social Group too.
I like going for walks and swimming and I watch the soaps at night.
John - I am the Co Chair of the Partnership Board, which means I have to go to meanings at the Fleet. I volunteer on Tuesdays at the Regional College helping people on the computers and on Wednesday's I go to Sundance House at Werrington on the computers.
I am a big fan of Peterborough United FC and go swimming and Ten Pin Bowling and Ice Hockey!!
Julie - I live on my own in my flat with my cat Abbie. During to the day I go to college where I do Growing Power which is gardening, work experience at New Ark City Farm and Budgeting for Life and Look Good, Feel Good whih is pampering!
I like to go on bike rides and read books. I enjoy cooking and chasing Abbie round the garden!
Terry - I go to college and do Community Studies which helps me to get bout on my own or with my friends. I do cooking on Tuesday mornings.I do voluntary work at Age Concern charity shop and I sort out the clothes.
I like to watch the soaps at night and X Factor!!
