Recommended Plan
(Cadets are placed by grade level or year entering the JROTC program)
6000-JROTC I                                         Grade Level 9th or First Year Cadet                       
Pre-requisite: Ninth Grade or Higher     Credit 1.0
 
JROTC first year is designed to teach the value of citizenship, leadership, and service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in students self-esteem, teamwork and self-discipline.  Its foucus is reflected in the mission statement, "To motivate young people to be better citizens".  It prepares student for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privileges as American citizens.  The student is introduced to logical thought process and pracitical problem solving.  Basic conceptys of formal government and history are introduced as it related to our diverse culture.  A proficiency in structural skills such as first aid, map reading and military drill ceremonies teach teamwork.  An appreciation for a healthy body and mind is demonstrated through a physical fitness program stressing a healthy diet, apperance and the hazards of substance abuse.  Extracurricular team give the student an opportunity to reinforce these through after-school practice and competition.  The course is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community and nation.
 
6010-JROTC II                                        Grade Level 10th or Second Year Cadet
Pre-requisite: JROTC I                            Credit 1.0
 
The second year JROTC course is designed to continue developing the ethical and moral principles that unerlie good citizenship.  Leadership development stresses those management skills needed to work cooperatively with and supervise others.  Continued emphasis is placed on logical thought processes and the development of oral and written communication skills.  Peer instruction/assistance is emphasized.  Health and fitness training is continued stressing appearance, diet, mental self-discipline and an understanding of the devilitating effects of substance abuse.  The history, purpose, and structure of the total military are introduced with an emphasis on the role of the Army.  History after World War II is stressed as it relates to America's position in the world and our role in the future.  A historical overview of the US Government is presented emphasizing how and why it is used in modern society.  An introducton in the use of basic computer skills and an explanation of the use of technology and high-speed communications is taught as used in society today.  Extracurricular team give the student an opportunity to reinforce these lessons through after-school practice and competition.  The course is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instrucion and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community and nation.
 
6020-JROTC III                                      Grade Level 11th or Third Year Cadet
Pre-requisite: JROTC II                          Credit 1.0
 
The third year of JROTC continues to develop leadership and management skills, goal setting, communication, and the practical use of technology.  Emphasis is on job specific training related to a student's role in the JROTC battalion.  The benefits and responsibilities of American citizenship are discussed in detail.  The student demonstrates problem solving skills, supervisory management abilities, and skills in superior subordinate relationships.  Communication skills are enhance both as a leader and counselor. The student demonstrate basic proficiencies in drill and ceremonies, first aid, and map reading.  Student will also assist in teaching these basic skills or junior cadets.  The student is given an overview of the history,missions, and organization of the Department of Defense. The importance of the post-Civil War period is taught as it relates to our culture and future. The social importance of technology and the ethical problems associated with these advancements are discussed as well as the importance of how a leader's image as a role model can help in preventing substance abuse. Extracurricular teams give the students an oppourtunity to reinforce these lessons through after-school practice and competition. The importance of graduating from high school is continually emphasized.
 
6040-JROTC-lV                                    Grade Level 12th or Fourth Year Cadet
Pre-requesite: JROTC lll                      Credit 1.0
 
The fourth year JROTC student continues to develop leadership and management skills, goal setting and communiccation skills and the practical application of technology.  Decision-making, ethical reasoning, leadership duties, and responsabilites are reinforced through practical application.  The student demonstrates his or her ability to effectively apply leadership and communication skills in a command or staff positioned assigned.  He or she performs duties as a leader, role model, coach, counselor and assistant instructor.  The student demonstrates the importance of good health and physical appearance and understands the importance of how a leader's image as a role model can help in preventing substance abuse.  The fourth year ROTC student is involved in community affairs and demonstrates their ability to work or provide positive service to the community.  The student understands the importance of military history as it relates to the development of the United States.  Extracurricular teams give the student an  oppourtunity to reinforce these lessons through after-school practice and competition.  The student learns how to market him or herself for college, public service, the job market, or military service.  The primary emphasis of the fourth year student is graduation from high school.
 
6040-JROTC LAB       Practice for JROTC activities
 
Restricted to JROTC lll and lV cadets assigned to Battalion staff or extracurricular teams.  Primary emphasis is on staff-development instruction and preparation for competition or inspection
