18 Dec 09 - Anti-spam and Outage Updates

5 Comments- Add comment Written on 18-Dec-2009 by

We scheduled a release today which included following items:

Webjam Outage/Server Problems

We are aware that for several hours today Webjam was down unexpectedly. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this caused. We have made several bug fixes and code changes to prevent outages like this from happening again in the future. For more information visit the Editor's blog post: Downtime update for 18th December

Notification Counter (Anti-Spam measure) Reset Fix

You may have noticed that in recent weeks; in an attempt to reduce the level of spam that is being sent from Webjam, we have set up notification counters for such things as Blog notifications and inviting members to join pages or events. (For more information visit the Editor's blog post: Combatting spam) The tiers for these are set at 100 notifications per day for free users, 500 per day for Premium users and limitless for our Managed Services users. We noticed an issue with the count not resetting on a daily basis as it should have done. We have fixed this and the count will now be reset to the level it should be each day.

Further Anti-spam Measures

We have also revised and updated our capcha code to make it even more efficient at dealing with spam. We hope to see the level of spam sent through.

We had a push today which included the following items:

Top bar Enhancements

As part of our work to enhance easier use of the platform and to provide easier navigation to your profile page and your dashboard, we have added links to these in the top bar. On top of this, Premium users now have the ability to remove the site logo and Network title from the topbar altogether (this is done in the Premium Style Settings Tab of the Styles menu). For more information please visit the Editor's Blog post: Enhancements to the top bar

Page Privacy Bug Fix

We noticed an issue wherein the page privacy settings of a network were not updating/saving. We have managed to get to the bottom of this and have fixed it.

Sort "My Networks" by Newest First

You can now sort your list of created Networks (in your dashboard) so the the last one you created is displayed first. This means that you can locate the last network you were working on faster and more easily.

03 Dec 09 - Members Tab Fix & Profile Module Truncation

We had a push this morning that included the following items:

Footer Link FIxes
The links in the corporate footer for Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions were not working. These have now been fixed and direct you to the correct place.

Members Tab Updates

We have resolved some problems within the members tab. There was an issue wherein the members that were selected was not being remembered when moving to another page. This has now been fixed so that you can manually select members of your network more easily.

There was also a fix made to the "Select All" functionality that exists in the members tab (by clicking on the checkbox at the top of your members list). This will select or deselect every member of your network - and the paging will not be affected by this.

Profile Module Truncation
Some people were having issues displaying information on their Profile module if it was in a thin column on the left or right of their site. All the text within the module now truncates correctly and stays in the column, instead of jutting into the column next to it and/or getting chopped off.

13 Nov 09 - Blog Posting/Blog Collaboration Issues Resolved

0 Comments- Add comment Written on 13-Nov-2009 by

A fix has been released to resolve today's issues with the Blog module. Therefore the editor and any page or site co-editors are again able to create and manage blog posts.

When you click EDIT in the Blog module header, under the 'Co-Editors' tab you can choose to additionally give editorial rights of the Blog module to some members using the 'Only members checked below' drop down. In this setting these selected members have full editorial rights within the module.

In addition, we have introduced a collaborative setting. You are able to make ALL members of the site Blog co-editors by choosing the 'All members' drop down. In this setting the all of your site members can post new blog posts but they will not be able to delete posts.

13 Nov 09 - Known issue with Blog editing

0 Comments- Add comment Written on 13-Nov-2009 by Deleted kylie

There is a current issue with site and page editors not being able to write blog posts as the 'Write new post' & 'Manage post' buttons have disappeared. This is the result of a push yesterday to allow collaborative editing on the Blog module. We will be working on correcting the issue today.

As a work-around the site editor can click on the EDIT button in the Blog module header and from the 'Co-Editors' tab select 'Site editors only' so that site editors can then see the 'Write new post' & 'Manage post' buttons.

Today we pushed the following items and fixes:

Collaborative Blog Settings
You are able to select which members of your network will be able to post blogs on your network. You have the ability now under the 'Co-Editor' tab of the Blog module settings to either select 'All members', 'Site editors only' or 'Only members checked below' (& then select specific members). This allows network editors to provide full collaboration on blogs for community sites by using the 'All members' option. Please note that these members will not be able to delete blog posts.

Web Server Performance Fixes
We have made some enhancements to optimise performance this week. As is often the case it may take some time to fully appreciate the effect of these. Please check back for further updates.

Newsletter Preview Fix

There was a bug with the branded newsletter preview (available for Premium users) not matching the style of the sent newsletter. The issues with the space for the network's logo and the newsletter's header position have now been resolved.

Username / email on Sign in

We have altered the text slightly to clarify that you are able sign into your account by using either your username or your registered email address.
