7 extra New Shops are being created into Trust Libraries as we Give FREE BOOKS away to brighten up everyones day:) If you want to volunteer to give books away and/or have unwanted books or space create a 'discussion' page for your town on the facebook group https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=348867089849 and comment on the http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org volunteering page.

Then if you want to become a 'Volunteer Shop Manager' find local volunteers who are interested in working in your local shop and find a friendly charity shop at http://www.charityshops.org.uk/locator.php to get books locally.

The 7 new shops...

Want to run your own charity shop or use 50 shops for charitable reasons?! VOLUNTEER Shop Managers needed in 50 UK Towns

Here is a list of guidance for setting up Trust Libraries. The aim is for anyone to set up a library anywhere so it is all about collaborating to help others (so hopefully we are being helpful to you:)...

Do not feel overwhelmed please. I find the best thing to do is take on one part at a time and complete that.

A.
Please state which town you are in, your contact details and what you can give and what you need there. The locations we have access to are listed on the http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org site. If you can not find your town please list your details anyway (and look for an unused space in which to create a Trust Library near you then set one up using the guidance sheet at http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org)
B
Please comment on facebook WITHOUT using the private messages (by commenting on walls) so that anyone else can add to your hard work by commenting on it:) When commenting please put this information in your comment so that anyone can find more details easily...
"
http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org give away FREE Books with you in 50+ uk locations? We need volunteers to manage each shop across the UK and waterproof boxes/shelves & transport to deliver & store the books (please post any ideas/suggestions on the website and join the group https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=348867089849 )
"
C
Please join http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org & the Facebook group and comment about setting up your local Trust Library so we can set you up a personal http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org page to manage and share your success. To find other volunteers to help do then comment on local volunteering charities facebook groups saying that "we are looking for volunteers to Manage shops where we are giving free books away http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org" Add more information as you see fit.
D
Then you can find volunteers to work with you to set up the locations that we are going to have a library. The best way to do this is to call up volunteering charities and asking if they have regional representatives.
E
Then call up each charity shop in the town that we are going to open up a http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org shop in and ask to speak to the manager then ask them...

1. Say that we are a charitable project working with two recycling charities and would like to offer them a free high street shop in which to raise awareness and give free books away in. Explain that this is to raise literacy levels and draw communities together while raising awareness about recycling.

2. Ask if we can take books that they recycle off their hands for free (tell them that we are raising literacy levels and ask them to register on TRUSTlibrary.org for more details) in order to benefit the local youth and community.
If they are not able to donate the books then ask if we can buy the books off them at the same cost that they get when they recycle them.

3. Ask if they can deliver the books direct to the high street shop in their town. Also ask if they would like to get one of their volunteers to open up our shop and use it to raise awareness about their charitable cause while also giving books away. This is the big sell as we are GIVING them rent free access to a shop:)

4. Ask if they know of any other locations that we could install a TRUST Library that gives books away to the local community in order to encourage everyone to read more? (put any contacts [url/twitter] they give you on the 'New Locations' page at http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org )

If/When they agree to give us books and/or volunteers get their contact details and put them on the http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org page for that town AND on the Volunteers page.

Feel free to develop this line of questioning as you see fit.

F
Opening up your shop.
Print of the posters that are attached to the http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org homepage. Get books from the local community and set up the library with signs says FREE BOOKS. I suggest putting the posters in the windows and working from in the shop (if you have a laptop and wireless connection?) on Saturday and Sunday. Do take pictures and video on your phone and then upload online to youtube to show your great work.

As you are a pioneer opening up our showcase shops it would be great if you could add information to this guidance below so the next person who opens a shop has the benefit of your experience from opening up your shop.

Creating FREE Trust Libraries with you. Want to use empty space to create a free public service?

0 Comments- Add comment Written on 27-Mar-2010 by WhymanDesign

Want to get & give FREE books away with a charity by volunteering, distributing, donating or creating a space & donate books http://www.TRUSTlibrary.org

Can we work with you to make a 21st Century version of the Carnegie library (but 000's of them all over the place for free) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnegie_library ?

We have proven how giving free books has such a positive effect on a community at http://www.MUSTart.org and would love to work with you to create TRUST Libraries everywhere. Can we work with you to provide free access to reading for all? After successfully giving free books away at the British Library we are hoping we can give free books away where you are. Do you want any free books or want to give free books away?

We have teamed up with a UK Charity and are looking to partner with individuals and organisations that want to collaborate so that we can give as many free books away to the public. The aim is to give free books away and see how many great people are interested in helping others by doing anything from running oneof the 50+ free Trust Libraries to distributing books or putting on a talk, performance or importantly helping hand out free books on the street. If you can help please list your contact details and what you can do in the comments part below this text (after logging in) or Tweet a message to @Trustlibrary

Below is a list of the Towns where we are going to open up Trust Libraries. We can create one in your town with you too!

We have a great FREE opportunity for you to work with a job title of Shop Manager if you would like to help your community (and your career) by running one of these shops as a volunteer manager please list your name, location, email and list your 5 of your achievements in the comment section below this post. We are especially keen to work with Volunteering charities, Distributors & Charity shops who want to 'do good' while also raising their organisations profile so that we can recycle unused materials.

TRUST Library has won an award from http://www.unltd.org.uk and are looking for other partners to collaborate with on helping others using recycled items.
We have partnered with http://www.HealthyPlanet.org to raise awareness of Reusing, Reducing and Recycling resources.

Get and Give FREE BOOKS and Make Your Own Trust Library in Minutes plus share the locations of Trust Libraries on our map so anyone can find and use them.

1. Want a FREE book to read, review then give away? Donate to TRUSTlibrary.org (so we can recycle books from Charity Shops to give away for free to others) and we will give you free books. Join us in the Gift economy where everyone wins.

2. Have you ever seen a few books left for anyone to take in a bar or waiting room? Share the location on our map so that everyone can use that Trust Library. Search for your local Trust Library here and make your own.

3. Help hundreds of people in minutes by getting the DIY Trust Library pack and volunteering or building your own.

4. Enhance any building by requesting we install a FREE Trust Library. Every School, Hospital, Hall and Shop could have one. If you want a Trust Library in your community ask us to send your community leader free books by donating. Lets work together to create, record and share where to find free books so that anyone can FIND the Trust Libraries and then give and get FREE books.

Also review any books you find at Trust Libraries so others know which books to read/ignore. Ask us to set up a FREE Book sharing Trust Library or donate and get a book sent to a friend of your choice. Take, read then review your book at TRUSTlibrary.org and importantly give it away. (Do tell Us if you enjoyed the book & donate online:). It is also important to record where the Trust Libraries are so that it is harder of them to be unintentionally disposed of by unaware individuals so we have created signs to label them.
