The Tetbury Royals started in 1981 when a small group of men, attending a Keep Fit Club, decided to have a go at running. One night, in a local pub, they decided they should have a name and eventually agreed to call themselves 'The Tetbury Royals' as, at the time, the Prince and Princess of Wales were about to move to Tetbury. Now, after more than twenty five years the club is still going strong. The club members meet twice a week and you are very welcome to join us.

On the first Thursday of the month we run in Malmesbury starting at 7pm from the Malmesbury Leisure Centre.

 General

We cater for all abilities and we are as much a social club as a running club and evening sessions always end up in the pub!

The evening runs vary but in the summer we use the arboretum at Westonbirt and sometimes extend our runs to surrounding villages along roads and across fields. The session rarely lasts longer than an hour. On average, it is forty-five minutes.

In the winter we do a two lap circuit of the town. It is quite a hilly course but there are plenty of short cuts for the beginner. We will always ensure you have someone to run with until you get to know the circuit well. At the end of the first circuit we always re-group so members can decide whether they want to continue to do a second lap. The whole session lasts about an hour. There are approximately 25 to 30 members. No subscription is required. About 10 people on average attend the weekly sessions.

Running Kit

Running vests can be purchased from the club. It is a royal blue singlet with a crown motif and the name of the club in yellow. Black shorts are not provided.
