 Sunday 9 June - North Chailey 14 miles Circular

Terry, Rick, Maurice, Steve and myself set off from North Chailey and headed north over Chailey Common, along roads and footpaths through a huge camping site around Wapsbourne Farm and then on past the Sloop Inn by the River Ouse.

Through a tunnel under the Bluebell railway line then followed the Sussex Border Path to Horsted Keynes. We arrived just after midday and most of us had a picnic lunch.

Returned back down the Sussex Border Path but branched off past some clay pit works down to Town Place again crossing a bridge over the Bluebell Railway. A train came by at this time but unluckily for us would not stop to pick us up!

Once again we passed the Sloop Inn then onto footpaths past Butterbox Farm, Hammonds Farm then across the Causeway at Clear Water (which it most definitely was not!), through Great Noven Farm and back across Chailey Common to the car park.

Weather was not great but at least it did not rain and the sun broke through mid-afternoon.
Covered 14 1/4 miles at an average of 3mph and all-in-all a good days walking.
