About us

WE ARE SAD TO REPORT THAT STREATHAM VOICES HAS NOW CLOSED DOWN

Streatham Voices is a friendly community mixed choir based in the Furzedown area of Streatham, South West London.

We sing all sorts of material, ranging from soul, gospel, South African Township songs to show and pop tunes, mostly sung in 4-part harmony and sometimes accompanied.

Our Musical Director, Andy Thomas, takes charge of all musical aspects of the choir while the committee organises its day to day running and its fundraising and social activities.

There are no auditions. All you need is an ability to have fun, hold a tune, a willingness to sing and be prepared to attend on a regular basis.

We perform at local gigs, ie. community centres, run a workshop and concert at the Furzedown Festival, and in September we take part in the Thames Festival - Sing for Water mass sing on the South Bank. We usually have some festive gigs around Christmas, where we perform some of our new material as well as some festive numbers.

We plan a programme of events both social and fundraising over the year, which members help to organise and which always prove to be fun for all.
