The American Class or the Great Diversion is a french telefilm of 1993, written and carried out by Michel Hazanavicius and Domenica Mézerette. It is exclusively made up of extracts of old films of Warner Bros, gone up and redoubled in order to create a new new film.

The first diffusion took place on the Canal Plus chains on December 31, 1993. One second diffusion took place in 2004 on the Festival chain (become from France 4). The film was never published officially in VHS or DVD.

SYNOPSIS :
Development of film in multiples flashbacks parody Citizen Kane d' Orson Welles. 

The history begins with death from the man more class of the world, George Abitbol (John Wayne) with broad of the atoll of Pom Pom Galli. The journalists Dave (Paul Newman), Peter (Dustin Hoffman) and Steven (Robert Redford) inquire into his last words: "World of shit".
