What We're About!

Showme Etsy is a business minded group of Etsians that have come together to promote handmade through local craft shows and trunk shows. We also have a strong emphasis on educating ourselves to makes our businesses grow and thrive as well as educating the public on what each of our crafts entail. In educating the public of our crafts, we believe that they will come to better understand that items made by hand are far superior to mass manufactured goods.

We also want to help the St. Louis area get behind buying and supporting local artists rather than buying imported goods. We will rely on each others strengths to help us overcome our own weaknesses and by this make us all better business minded individuals.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, feel free to contact Amy of Stick to Your Knittin' Kitten for more information. This is a group that knows how to have fun while accomplishing many things! We know your time is valuable. We thank you so much for your interest in ShowMe Etsy!

And just what is the Upcycle Exchange? It's a fabulous program... as artists we're always looking for items to use in our art. Here's an easy way to donate unused craft items at ShowMeEtsy's Artropy event! Here's a blurb from the Upcycle website! The Upcycle Exchange is an pilot program aimed at initiating a cradle-to-cradle inspired production concept for the indie craft community. The basic premise is that customers can receive incentives, such as discounts on merchandise or other perks, when they collect and donate materials that crafters use to create handmade merchandise. Micro-manufacturers have formed a vast network both on the internet and in their communities over the past 10 years, and have enjoyed an explosion of popularity through local events and online shops. In light of the endlessly varied aesthetic tastes and resourcefulness of these well-connected cottage industries, we think they exhibit a huge potential to absorb over-consumption, and serve as a model for producing more sustainable domestic goods.

Thanks to all who attended the ShowMe Etsy's first art & craft show! It was a resounding success! People came after work, around the neighborhood and beyond to check out everyone's wares. Below are just a few pics from the evening, taken just a few minutes before the show closed.

The ShowMe Etsy street team is putting on our first show this week. The Crazy Autumn Art & Craft Show will be Thursday, October 16, from 5-9 pm at SqWires Annex in Historic Lafayette Square.

This show will be a great way to get holiday shopping done early. In addition to lots of vendors who have shops on Etsy, the show will also include special guest artists Big Small Town Designs and MFA students from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University. This show will offer a little bit of everything, from fine art paintings and photography to unique jewelry to fiber arts to handmade cards and much much more.

In addition to all of this handmade art and craft goodness, there will be free cheese and crackers and a cash bar. Also, there will be a free raffle to win one of four gift baskets stuffed with handmade items made by the show participants. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to pick up one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts!
