London Transport Museum is hosting a Flickr scavenger hunt on Sunday 6th July in Covent Garden as part of the events for the London Festival of Architecture 2008. Focusing on the transport network's quirky design features, in a race against time teams of photographers will have to unlock a series of cryptic clues in order to snap roundels, station murals and much more. Have you got what it takes to get all the shots and make it back to the Museum? Prizes for the first team back (with the most correct answers), and - voted by the public - the best team and the best picture uploaded on Flickr.

s Team Schleger

It was a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon.

Everyone met at the museum. None of us knew each other. We were put into teams of four.

Team Schleger was made up of Billy, Nick 1, Nick 2, Duane and Marc.

We were given a sheet of clues each plus one sheet of photos.

The clues were made up of five sections and the map was split into four zones: A, B, C and D.

[You can see our other photos for each clue by clicking on the clue's tag after our chosen photo.]

The Challenges:

1. Spot a dial-a-ride roundel. We couldn't find one anywhere. We did spot a "Private Hire" one on the back of a speeding car somewhere near Ludgate Circus though... It was gong so fast we coudn't take a photo though!

2. Snap one of the museum's own roundels:

The museum now sells various items covered with traditional tube train seat designs. Here's a stool:

3. Find as many roundels as you can on non-transport related items.

Here's a roundel found in a shop window:

4. Spot one of these Roundels in any of the Zones:

Zone A

1. "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." The Godfather would be proud of the management of these roads where this roundel is.

The Godfather made us think of Sicily... off we went to Sicilian Avenue, Holborn to find a STREETS roundel:

2. Find the rest of this roundel. We were given part of this picture. Billy knew that it was a photo from the front of Holborn Station:

3. Recreate this famous photo from London Transport Museum's collection:

This is the view from one of Chancery Lane's subways. We tried every possible combination until we found this view:

4.  Find this roundel. We caught sight of this while whizzing around the subways working out where to take the photo above:

Zone B

2. Recreate this famous photo from London Transport Museum's collection:

Temple Underground Station

3. A roundel behind bars on one of England's garden counties. We looked at the map and found an Essex Street very close to Aldwych station. Once we arrived we discovered that Surrey Street is round the corner from the station's main entrance where we discovered this roundel hiding:

4. Pay homage here to the pre Beck era (and no it's not a roundel).

We found this map at Temple station:

There's a caption to go with it too:

Zone C

1. Find this roundel with a dark habit. Billy suggested Blackfriars station:

2. Catch it if you can - a moveable roundel on a sherbet dab. What moves? Well all transport moves. What about something that rhymes with sherbet dab. Taxi no! Cab yes:

3. Watch your step as you head down towards the river to find this roundel:

Going into the subway at Blackfriars we found these steps:

4. There are a thousand reasons to look for this roundel:

So a "thousand" could be a millennium? Ah the London Eye perhaps? Er no! It's nowhere near Zone C. What about "look" Well we already had "eye" how about "peer?" no "pier..."

Zone D

1. It would be criminal not to hop on a piece of history where this roundel is:

Well you hop on a bus and we were very close to the Old Bailey:

busstop

Guess what arrived? Yes a traditional London Routemaster bus:

2. Find the rest of this roundel. Well we knew it was orange. We found this at St. Paul's tube station:

The End...

So that's one set of challenges and all four zones covered. We were off to find the pub... Which was right by St. Paul's tube station.

We were second back. After much deliberating by the judges it was announced that our team had won based on number of roundels found and our time back to the finish. We were given a bottle of fizzy drink and a tin of sweets which we shared with everyone else:

Thank you for checking out our photos. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did tracking them down.

Here's a smiley roundel to finish off with :)
