As many of you may know I am Kathleen Stanger the Rock-Fest Coordinator who has chaired the Rockville community festival. Due to a family death that has been devastating to the family I have resigned as coordinator. The past 9-years have been rewarding in so many ways; I am grateful for having the opportunity to meet so many different people and to have gained so many friendships. The committee over these several years strived to evolve into and organization that had a mission in mind to achieve goals for the community that the members could be proud of. Some of the accomplishments over the past few years included: donating funds and volunteer time to organizations such as the Rockville PTC, Sportsman’s Club, Rockville Scholarship program, winter community youth nights, community food shelf, and Toys for Tots. In addition, we were an independent organization that annually coordinated and funded Rockville’s community festival.

I am happy to say since my resignation, the Rockville Sportsman’s Club has stepped forward to lead in coordination of the festival. Along with this club leading the festival it will still take many other local organizations and community volunteers to help make Rock-Fest a success.

The Sportsman’s Club has selected the festival date to be: Saturday, July 13th. I encourage the readers to extend a hand by contacting the club to let them know how you’d like to get involved. Volunteering for Rock-Fest is very easy. You don’t need to commit several hours. Ex: Volunteer one hour of your time, commit to chaperoning an event, or become a sponsor.

Again, I want to thank you for your years of support and making Rock-Fest a celebration that Rockville can be proud of; wonderful community and extraordinary people!
