There is so much going on of late, I don't know where to begin. Chickens seem to be the big topic of late...

Battery cages are going to be phased out of the EU by the year 2012. This is great, but what about now?  Five chains (The Sainsbury, Morrisons, Co-op,Marks & Spencer and Waitrose) are phasing them out sooner.  But what about all the others??  My suggestion...boycott marketing giant Tescos and write them letters.

There is a researcher in the UK that calculated that battery caged hen eggs produce 10% CO2, other cages produce 20%, and organic hens produce 40%. So he suggested that battery cages are the way to go, for environmental concerns.  But what about the concerns of the chickens?  How would you like to be strapped into a tiny cage with a wire mesh floor with 4 of your friends for the rest of your shortened life?  NOT ME!!  So the BEST solution: don't eat eggs!
