 הַתִּקְוָה   

 כֹּל עוֹד בַּלֵּבָב פְּנִימָה
נֶפֶשׁ יְהוּדִי הוֹמִיָּה,
וּלְפַאֲתֵי מִזְרָח, קָדִימָה,
עַיִן לְצִיּוֹן צוֹפִיָּה,
  עוֹד לֹא אָבְדָה תִּקְוָתֵנוּ,
הַתִּקְוָה בַּת שְׁנוֹת אַלְפַּיִם,
לִהְיוֹת עַם חָפְשִׁי בְּאַרְצֵנוּ,
אֶרֶץ צִיּוֹן וִירוּשָׁלַיִם

Nefesh  y’hoo-dee  hoh-mee-yah

Ull’fut’tay  Mizz-rah  ker-dee-mah
Ay-in  l’zee-yon  tzo-fee-yah

Odd-loh  uv’doh  tik-vah-tay-noo
Hah-tik-vah shnot ull-pie-yim
Lee-yot  um  koff-she  b’ar-tzay-noo
B’erretz  zee-yon  v’y’roo-sha-layim

(repeat last two lines)

The Hatikvah (Hope)

As long as a Jewish soul
Still yearns in the innermost heart,

And eyes turn eastward
Gazing towards Zion,

Then our hope is not lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free people in our land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
