Prayer before an Operation

Before my operation I turn to You, because You are always beside me.

You created the healing powers of my body and the strength and courage of my spirit. They are Your gifts to carry me from fear to confidence.

Yours are the wonder of science and the marvel of creation. I thank You for the wisdom of my doctors, the skill of my surgeon’s hands and the devotion of my nurses. They are Your helpers in the work of healing. They comfort me.

Lord, I am Your child whom You created. Lead me gently into sleep and waken me to health. In Your love I trust.
