She set a target of £50 and has so far reached the total of £200, if anyone else would like to donate,(Carol T and I have already done so) they can do it at http://www.justgiving.com/Catherine-Murphy1
Thanks.
Margaret's winning story is posted on Competitions, previous winners for those of would like to enjoy it.
Following the discussion on Saturday 19th November, and to allay fears about privacy or lack of it I have done the following:
1. I have made the members email details 'Private' so only editors can read them.
2. Actually when someone joins, their membership has to be authorised by the Oldham Writing Cafe account, so it is not the case that anyone can join.
3. I have removed all my personal details from the Oldham Writing Cafe account and set myself an account up under the name Redvixen. I am going to send an email to Faye with the password for use with the OWC account.
4. I have removed everything that pertains to me on the TWITTER account and passed it over to Amanda, who is now tweeting away. See below for updates.
5. I have also linked the Twitter account with our new Facebook page and made Carol T an administrator on the page so she should be able to post our news on there too.
I trust this puts everyone's mind at rest.
Carolyn aka Redvixen
Except Wendy and Catherine can everyone else check out our new facebook page and LIKE it so you can be a member please. The groups function has been changed and thanks to Wendy who let me know, I have saved our group from being archived by changing our group to a page. Please check it out and add your news and comments. Thanks Carolyn x
The Saltceller is a good central location and you can eat there after the meeting. Hope to see everyone there next week.

‘The Amazing Mary Higgs’
By local author Carol M Talbot
The recently launched novel about the life of Mary Higgs has been a resounding success for Oldham Writing Cafe member Carol Talbot. Following the well attended launch interest in the book and author has seen the first edition print sold out. Recognition for Carol as the storyteller is well justified and includes interviews on local radio and newspaper write-ups. Fellow members of the Oldham Writing Cafe are very proud of Carol and her portrayal of this amazing woman.
THE SECOND EDITION PRINT IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.
The Amazing Mary Higgs
Student, Pioneer, wife and mother, undercover tramp and social reformer.
An extraordinary story of an ordinary woman, born 1854, told mainly through the eyes of Annie, the friend who joined her on many undercover investigations to get first hand experience of the conditions in tramp wards and common lodging houses.
It would seem remarkable in the twenty first century for any one woman to achieve so much, but the fact that she was a product of the Victorian era with its moral and social constraints makes her life’s work all the more remarkable.
