Our community

We hope to make this site the place to come to find out all about the activities and services we have that make the Old Dean Community such a great place.

We're still adding things to the site, but have a look around and see what's here, right on our doorstep.

Community Survey

A survey is currently underway to gather information and get your views about a number of things.

If you haven't had the chance to complete a survey and would like to be involved, just call into the Advice Centre (next to the Coop) and fill one in.  It takes less than 4 minutes to make your views known.

Parent & Toddler Groups

There's a choice of groups to attend - look at Families and Children section to find details.

Family Fun Day

Over 100 people came along to the Fun Day at the Youth Centre.

There was plenty to keep everyone busy and entertained with children from Pine Ridge and Lorraine schools starting things off by singing togther.

There was the chance to learn how to play the guitar or a djembe (an african drum), get your face painted, make a finger puppet, listen to a story, make a robot and Hubble was there with his puppet friends to entertain everyone. If this wasn't enough, children were still encouraged to "boogie" and everyone was invited to make a healthy sandwich.

A4e had a stand with information about Pathways - a project to help people into employment - and they held a raffle (drawn by local vicar Bob Peck) with the prize of a digital camera.  Information about learning for all ages was available as well as information about the Old Dean community.

Thanks to everyone who came, those who helped to run things on the day, the Youth Centre for the use of their building, the Co-op for providing the drinks, cakes and bread (for making a healthy sandwich) and the main organisers Elizabeth Whiddett (Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership), Paula Stubbings (Children's Centre Co-ordinator) and Sarah Sewell (Surrey Heath Confederation of Schools Project Manager) who did most of the work to pull everything together (and clear up afterwards!) and make the day a success.
