Strikers Topple Teversham

How brilliant is this? The girls have put together a fantastic match report with some lovely additional fashion tips which, of course, the boys will adore ! (But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to be implemented.) Teversham won 18-1 last week - would they crush the Strikers this weekend? Let's find out from our pitchside reporters.

Match report  NST V TEVERSHAM  7.3.09  3-1

Tommy's Birthday debut as captain. Boys look great in yellow bibs, complementing the dark blue so well!

Great continued tackling from George throughout the match. Early goal to Teversham, with a gallant "nearly" save from Matty S, who just stepped back over the goal line. (0-1)

Soon to be followed by a fantastically lobbed goal from Oliver.  (1-1) Then Annie arrives, the sun comes out (not unconnected we think) and with her enthusiastic, encouraging, shouting, a renewed energy from NST.

A long queue forming outside Diane, Linda and Eleanor's now world famous Bistro and everything in the world seems rosy.

Great and fair "reffing" from the ever patient Paul kept the game running smoothly.

Marvellous and dogged defending from the last man Ed as Teversham are really stretching NST. Duncan getting stressy about "trapping" Please see Duncan if you want to know what this means!! Long shot from Ollie goes hurtling just past the post, closely followed by Matty S's swift shot skimming the post. (Nice alliteration!: Ed)

Some fantastic last man defending from the only girl on the pitch  - steady, controlled, organised (well she is a girl/woman!!)

Ollie rather let down and restricted by the tankini style goalie top, revealing a good 6" of white NST top, destroying the overall look!

Stonking goal from Birthday Boy Tommy (2-1) set up beautifully a ball down the line from George to Jake, who picked out a cross that Matty S dummied that left Tommy clear to control the ball and place it into the back of the net, closely followed by great goal from an acute angle from Matty S. (3-1) Are we on a roll?

David said "It's tight" from behind our goal. A technical football term?

Brave try from Ed, but denied by good save by Teversham goalie.

Duncan said "they battled well and there were a few good passes"

We say;" great game boys, lovely sunshine on our legs. Teach us how to shout Annie, Happy Birthday Tommy. Diane, Linda and Eleanor are amazing and what a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Something must be done about the tankini goalie shirt"

Sam, Caroline, Annie, Bridget

Excellent job ladies - more of the same next week? Thanks to Andy for the action shots !

Squad: Oliver, Ollie, Ed, Matty S, Tommy, George, Jake, Joe, Sean,

Scorers:  Oliver, Matty S, Tommy.
