Forest face one of their hardest games of the season when they make the long journey to Carlisle on Tuesday night. Forest will be hoping to break a worrying sequence of not scoring in the first half in any of the previous seven matches and only managing one first half goal in the previous eleven games.
The will face a Carlisle team who had a weekend off following the late postponement of their game on Saturday at Crewe Alexandra. Carlisle have one of the best home records in the country having won 12 of the 14 league games played at Brunton Park this season.
Carlisle were in the news earlier in the season when they sacked manager Neil McDonald after the first game of the season when they drew at Walsall. He was eventually replaced by Cheltenham manager John Ward who is now building an impressive reputation as a manager after being a highly respected number two for a number of years. One of his assistants at the club is Dennis Booth who also had a spell at Forest in the same role when David Platt was manager.
The main threat is likely to come from striker Joe Garner who has so far managed 14 goals this season after converting last season’s loan into a permanent transfer from Blackburn Rovers. Recent signing from Forest Scott Dobie will not play in the game (and the forthcoming game at City Ground) under the terms of the transfer. Besides Dobie they also made three other deadline signings with Grant Smith joining from Dundee United, Evan Horwood joining from Sheffield United and Cleveland Taylor hoping for a second successive promotion after joining from Scunthorpe.
