2009 was an exceptional year for Julie Steele.  Since Julie was able to sit on a pony she has continually progressed through the various stages of the sport.  It was without a doubt a fantastic achievement for Julie to compete in the Show Jumper of the Year at Balmoral.  Julie and her pony Joe, rode an electrifying round with a time that left no room for the following competitors to falter.  The result was a foregone conclusion and Julie was awarded the Junior Show Jumper of the Year 2009.  Julie all your friends in the North Antrim Riding club wish you continued success.

NORTH ANTRIM RIDING CLUB

Successfully held their first Summer Camp at Drumsamney Equestrian Centre at Tobermore.  The facilities offered by proprietors John & Violet Johnson went down a storm with the riders.

On Thursday 2nd July, at the break of dawn, Drumsamney was buzzing as the organisers prepared for the arrival of riders, horses/ponies and their entourages.  North Antrim is very much a family club and all members were encouraged to participate and enjoy the Camp as part of their Summer holidays.

Riders had been given an itinerary and after all the formalities had been completed there was little time until they would be in the saddle for the first of their twice daily rides.  The evening's entertainment was provided by Anne Bowen.  Anne is the proprietor of Ardclinis Outdoor Adventure Facilities (www.ardclinis.com) and provided us with archery and wall climbing apparatus.  Anne and her helpers provided fantastic fun and enouraged everyone to have a go.

Camp continued with a visit to the local swimming pool and the last night's traditional entertainment of water fights and barbeques.  Sunday 5th July was the completion of Camp after all riders had ridden the cross-country and presentations made.  Without a doubt this will be an annual venture that everyone is looking forward to.  Roll on 2010.
