Tuesday 28th July '09

The Annual Show Jumping League was held on Tuesday 28th July at the home of Alan & Liz Cochrane, Ballyclough Road Bushmills to whom we are extremely grateful for their continued support.  The weather was kind for most of the evening and a good night's jumping was had by all.  The Cross Poles began the evening's jumping and competitors fought hard for the much sought after Aghadowey Potatoes Perpetual Cup.  Finally, the places were awarded and proud mum Shirley Smyth watched as daughter Erin was presented with the Aghadowey Potatoes Perpetual Cup.  From the Cross Poles the competition continued with the 50cm class.  Always a popular class, competitors didn't have it easy when trying to win the Knockanbouy Veterinary Clinic Dervock Perpetual Cup.  Competitors gave everyone watching a good night's entertainment and Tiegan Hunter riding 'Molly' as always ends her rounds with a smile while Tamara McErlain and 'Jock' prove to be a strong contender for the Cup.  Katie Bowen and her new pony 'Splash' have become a good team giving other competitors a run for their money with strong riding and Laura McGaughey and 'Bob' were the quiet contenders.  Paige Watt, Karlie Anderson and Brittany McAfee were all in with a strong chance of taking home the coveted Knockanbouy Veterinary Clinic Dervock Cup but first place was rightly won by Brittany McAfee riding 'Toffee'.

The competition continued with the 70cm class and as this has always been the most popular class there was quite a wait for spectators to learn who was the rightful winner of the Feedall Pet Foods Ltd Portglenone Ltd Perpetual Cup.  Eventually there could only be one winner and Julie Steele riding 'Joe' took first place.  Julie was delighted dad Wilard was there to see her being presented the Feedall Pet Foods Portglenone Ltd Perpetual Cup by Club Chairperson Colette Traynor.

This year was the 2nd year of the over 40's class and Alan Cochrane was delighted to win the Dessie Lynne (Eden Farm) Perpetual Cup.

The final class was the Open.  As always this class generates an electrifying atmosphere and this final night was no exception with competitors trying so hard to win the Kenny Bradley Newmills Road Coleraine Perpetual Cup.  After some exceptionally good riding by all competitors the outright winner was Hannah McCollum riding 'Coshla Grange'.  Hannah was presented the Kenny Bradley Newmills Road Coleraine Perpetual Cup by Club Chairperson Colette Traynor.
