Robert Dunlop was one of the greatest ever exponents of motorcycle racing ever to come out of the island of Ireland. Robert was a multi title winner and indeed still holds the record number of wins ever recorded at the world famous North West 200 circuit with 15 victories. Other notable achievements include the 1991 British 125cc champion and 1990 Macau Grand Prix winner.
Robert was also awarded the very prestigious Freeman of the borough honour by Ballymoney Borough Council in recognition of his tremendous career in motor cycle racing throughout the world. Robert also had a civic reception held in Ballymoney Town Hall to
mark his 1991 BRITISH 125cc championship title.

Our sincere thanks to the public of Bushmills for their generosity on the day and to the land owners who without their permission this ride could not have taken place. Also to the Dunlop family members that were present and helped with the collections, to Robert's Mother May for attending and his brother Jim & son who brought out his motor bike for the enjoyment of the motor racing enthusiasts. Finally but very importantly a BIG thank you to Martin O'Kane & Melanie Moorhead for their constant help and encouragement to many riders also to the organisors for making this ride happen.
