Nomine

Nomine is a well established four part choir which meets in the East Bristol area, mainly rehearsing in the United Reformed Church School Room in Oldland Common, and is directed by Naomi Reed.

It is a choir which represents and supports the ‘Children’s Hospice South West’  http://www.chsw.org.uk  by giving high quality concerts to raise money. Concerts are usually free of charge and donations are invited following the concert for the work of the Children's Hospice South West. Currently, over the past few years Nomine has raised £12,146.11 towards the work of the Children's Hospice SW and still has a further fundraising concert planned for 2011 and another for 24th March 2012.

We sing a variety of music; both secular and sacred; both serious and silly. The programme of music is decided according to the venue and the audience involved. Many concerts are given by request and the programme is put together accordingly. The choir usually works towards a more major item such as the recent performance of Vivaldi's Gloria. Smaller concerts are then given drawing on a repertoire of music to suit various tastes.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings starting at 7.45 p.m. These are held at the United Reformed Church, High Street, Oldland Common, Bristol. A list of rehearsal dates is provided approximately 6 monthly and occasionally additional rehearsals take place by arrangement when a concert is imminent. Currently the charge of £2 per person is made at each rehearsal to cover the costs of room hire and the hiring and purchase of music. Occasionally rehearsals are held at different venues by arrangement and sometimes these venues are where the next concert will be performed. However, the vast majority of rehearsals are held in the United Reformed Church School Room.

We are looking to expand all sections of the choir and so would welcome Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses. An ability to read music is essential, if only at a rudimental level.

If you enjoy singing and would like to be part of this established choir why not come along? You would be most welcome. We are very happy for people to come along just to observe a rehearsal and to join us for some light refreshments before they decide if they wish to join the choir.

For further information about membership please contact Naomi Reed direct on:- 07773155593 or send an email to Nomine on nahl@btinternet.com giving a contact name. A response will be sent as soon as possible.
