Food 2.0 Nom Nom Nom is a fun project bringing food bloggers, TrustedPlaces members, food photographers, food journalists & authors, everyday regular cooks, influential bloggers & senior members of leading UK based internet companies together for a meet up. See it as an interactive version of MasterChef.
Here's the place where you'll meet all of the above and eventually vote for the online side of their "cookery". When you come to vote, please base your votes on the overall online experience & how much it entertained and inspired you. If any of the participants give you any bribes to vote, please let us know, as then Bolli the cat will give them a good kicking err ... licking .... um .... stern talking to.
Welcome to the Go Team Six NOM NOM NOM voting page!
Altogether now...
(after three)
1... 2...... 3!
"GO TEAM SIX!"
We're your hosts - Whatleydude & Ribot!
(that's me, Whatley, on the left there look) -------------------------------------------->
And we have a veritable banquet of food-based media for you to feast your mince-pies on today -
Then we shall we begin...
The Date: Sunday May 18th 2008
The Time: Stupid O'Clock
The Event: Food 2.0 - Nom Nom Nom
Now, being the geekery bloggers that we are - we did every thing we could to make sure that every part of the day was captured/blogged/vlogged etc... and well, as from the Video you shall see below... there was a slight problem with that: Ribot was running late!
So off we set to the Farmer's Market in Marylebone to buy our ingreeeeeeeeeeeedientz!
Well - most of them - well... about half of them, (turns out later on that I actually forgot to get most of mine... um), here's the original list that I made myself...spoken through SpinVox, 'natch:
Exquisite...:)
Anywhoo, Laura and I stopped to have a break and I thought that, while we waited for Ribot, I'd give you a quick tour of the market!...
Excellent stuff... after all that hard work, we thought we'd stop for some sunbathing - again - WAITING FOR RIBOT
The great thing about these next two videos is the MULTI-ANGLE SHOOTING!
(woo!)
When you hit 1min 35secs into this next clip, hit play on the one below for some proper, almost-DVD-special-feature-esque multi angle/stereo viewage action!
Go on - Try it and see!
Finally, with the team complete, we headed off, back into the market. Avoiding the EVIL members of the opposing teams (whilst also keeping an eye out for any moments of cheatery) Ribot and I found ourselves with a few executive decisions ahead of us...
1) Do we keep the Bruschetta?
2) What about the Lettuce? (or 'lettuci' - as Ribot called it)
Failure prevented. Danger encountered and faced down. Our heroes set off in search of the one thing that seemed to escape them. Mint. That's right. MINT.
For some reason this was the key thing for almost every part (no really) of our Nom Nom Nom menu and could we find any anyway?! Could we hell!
EVERYWHERE we looked. All round the market, all round Marylebone... in High St stores (yes - we even ventured into Tescos) ..and yet no matter where we went the Mystic Mint escaped us. What else could we do?! Well... When in doubt, turn to chocolate.
WHAT WERE WE TO DOOOOO?!

Well, fortunately....
The AMAZING waiter in Pizza Express
(opposite the Carluccio's shown in the video above)
was kind enough to GIVE us their very last stock of mint!
Woooo!
Next time you're in the area, stop bye there and tell the staff they are ALL lovely! :)
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Ingredients FINALLY picked up and packed up - it was time we decided on a Team Name...
Brilliant! Inside we met the other teams, the rest of the organisers and of course, the amazing staff who were on hand that day to assist us with everything and anything we needed. Rock on.
After the usual Health & Safety wotnot...
(no running with knives - and if you do have to hold a knife, please hold it down by your side like a murderous killer sneaking up on someone...no really)
We were ready to start cooking!
With just a little over two and a half hours to prepare our dishes, I think the set up of all the digital gadgetry was given as much care and attention as all the food!
Whilst Ribot cracked on with his Tabouleh Futo Maki a'la Ribot, I made sure that we had the digital angle covered...
Our camo-cam, a rather sexy N95, was set up on it's tripod and set to take a photo of our culinary exploits every minute from the moment of cutting the first onion all the way up to serving the last slice of dessert... Rock!
As I may've mentioned earlier - Ribot was in charge of the starters... which, aside from the odd bout of slicing and dicing here and there, kinda left me a bit redundant..
This time - a quick look around our kitcheny/cooking area. Checking out the other teams, their dishes and of course, their cooking techniques...
And that was all fine, and great and lovely and stuff. However, we were forgetting one thing. The thing is - there were TWO kitchens. That's right - TWO! So, once Ribot had finished his fusion of Japanese Lettuci, I left him in charge of the Baked Alaska whisking and went on a mini-adventure... Down into the depths of the other kitchen....
Upon arriving back from the downstairs kitchen Ribot and I ramped up the gears to focus on getting our super duper menu finished on time and in perfect tasting condition for the soon approaching deadline... Only one problem. We were missing a whole bunch of ingredients.
Whoops.
Ribot was sent on a secret mission (to the shops) with a shopping list almost equal in length to that with what we started... Eep! And, in true 'Challenge Anneka' fashion, he came through!
We have no pics/video of this part however - as we were too busy shouting things like:
"AAAAAAAARGH!"
and
"WHERE'S THE ICE CREAM?!"
and
"WOW! LOOK AT THOSE SCOTCH EGGS!"
Hehehe....
Anywhoo - with the Tabouleh Futo Maki a'la Ribot all sorted and dished up, it was time to dish up the Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers and then whack the Baked Alaska in the oven sharpish.. Talk about doing 90% of the work in the last 10% of the time allowed!
To give you an idea of the speed of which I speak, let me share with you our final video.
This one is made up of all the shots my camera took throughout the day (the camo-cam I set up in the beginning remember?) and well, turn your sound up and enjoy!
:)
If you've made it this far and you're still here - then we applaud you. Thank you.
Really.
Big Love from the members of GO TEAM SIX.
We hope you enjoyed reading this post at least half as much as we did putting it together...
...if you did, please scroll back up the page and click on the two big VOTE buttons and help us get towards the big prize! :)
Finally - While you're here PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you stop by the Action Against Hunger page.
Because as much as the whole day was a LOT of fun, there are many people out there who for them, food is not about fun. Food is about staying alive.
Thanks for reading folks,
*hugs*
Whatley & Ribot
