OpenSocial Gadget

Written on 27-Jul-2009 by webjam
OpenSocial is a tool that enables programmers to write gadgets that work on different platforms, it defines a common API for social applications across multiple websites. Using standard JavaScript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network's friends and update feeds.

A site that can host OpenSocial applications is called an OpenSocial container.
Your network is powered by Webjam, which is an Open Social container, and is able to host your OpenSocial applications.

To write an OpenSocial application, you need a working knowledge of JavaScript. Because OpenSocial applications are built as gadgets, you'll need to know how a gadget is structured, and to make your application social, you'll need to learn about the OpenSocial JavaScript API.
The best way to learn about the specifics of developing an OpenSocial app is to look at the official developers guide.
