Some women need to induce labor because of rather serious medical concerns. Women who are displaying high blood pressure or have diabetes are at a greater risk of complications when they are pregnant. Other medical reasons could include conditions like placenta abruption, an infection of the membranes that enclose the amniotic fluid, a premature rupture of the membranes, and preeclampsia.

Many of these women face the possibility of having to be induced to make the birth of their baby safer for everyone concerned. This is obviously not the ideal scenario, as every woman has a much nicer picture painted in her mind, but sometimes being induced or even possibly undergoing a cesarean may be what is needed to deliver the outcome we all want.
