What is Limitless London?

Limitless London is a non-profit organisation created and managed by two friends that grew up in Barking & Dagenham. James Wickes is currently a first year trainee solicitor with Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP. James Penn begins as a trainee solicitor with Charles Russell LLP in September 2008.

Aims of the project

We set up Limitless London following the frustration we felt at the lack of suitable career focus and guidance we experienced as young adults in state education growing up in Barking & Dagenham. Our goal is to inspire young people to believe that they can achieve anything to which they set their mind.

In particular our aims are to:

• Nurture an awareness of the necessity of self motivation and early career planning;
• Provide guidance and personal support to enable young people to fulfil their potential;
• To produce a qualitative impact on the employability of our targeted students;
• To create a level playing field and continue to encourage fair access to employment for state educated young adults; and
• Reach our goals though ethical and sustainable means.

Whilst predominately aimed at high achieving young adults our policy is to work on an individual basis and to provide support wherever it is requested.

Why Barking & Dagenham?

This is an area with which we have a particular affinity and one in which we believe we can have the most impact due to our background.

The Borough has the lowest higher education participation rates in London and one of the top ten lowest nationally.

The project currently has the support of two leading law firms, Charles Russell LLP and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP.

What we do

We have delievered career talks, mentoring sessions and skills workshops.

In future, in addition to our current programme, we aim to set up a student-led focus group for the project as well as develop a large scale, cross-borough business game in partnership with various London businesses and organisations.
