She also makes stunning hand-dyed silk ribbons in the most delicious colors!

Meet Heidi ...

How long have you been lampworking? Why did you start lampworking?
This could be called "Lampworker By Chance." I was always curious about glass. It was fascinating to watch the glass workers at Disneyland as a kid. In college I had taken a stained glass class and loved playing with the pieces of glass. I had fun shopping at the supply store looking at all the sheets of glass. Years later there was a beautiful stained glass shop in San Diego that I would drive by sometimes. As I would sit in traffic I would gaze at the windows. One day I decided to stop in and see if they had a kit for making lampshades in one of the Tiffany patterns. I left that day with a hot head torch and a few rods of glass. I stared at that torch for at least a month before I lit it up.
What inspires your creations?
Looking at paintings inspires me. I am drawn to color! I love to play with the different colors until I find a combination that is pleasing.
With borosilicate glass the longer you work the glass the poopier the colors get. You have to have a design in your mind before you sit down
How would you best describe your artistic style?
The style I guess is organic. I like the colors to flow and run together. When I make soft glass beads I like to make them a bit funky with fun bright colors.

What is your favorite piece you've created so far?

My reversible pendants are my favorite because they can be flipped to either side and that is pleasing to me.
If you could take a class with one teacher, who would that teacher be and why?
Lucio Bubbaco would be fun to take a class with. Of course it has to be in Italy! :)
What is your proudest accomplishment in the glass world?
I am pretty darn proud of my Watercolor silk ribbon series... I think the colors spark something creative in some lampworkers that is fun to watch.

Where else can people find your creations? www.JamnGlass.com.
See Heidi's work on Etsy at http://jamnglass.etsy.com
