The PTA

For many years Langton Green School has benefited from a continuous stream of keen and ever willing parents who form the committee of the PTA. Not only does the PTA provide essential funds that serve to enhance and expand the curriculum, it also gives the school a social platform for both parents and children.

We have been a registered charity since January 2003, charity no: 1095127. This means that for any voluntary donations or sponsored events, we are able to claim back income tax if a gift aid declaration has been completed.

This has made quite a difference to PTA funds already and should continue to do so in the future. To retain charitable status we must ensure that each year the new PTA commit raise a further gross income of over £10,000 to add to the funds. This figure must not include interest amounts. In 2007/2008 school year we have raised a further £700 in gift aid. As you can appreciate, we have a very large target to achieve at the beginning of each fund-raising year.

Events are arranged throughout the year that offer parents a chance to get to know each other and for the children to come together in a fun and relaxed environment. Notable dates on the calendar include Christmas Bazaar, Pantomime for the children, Parties, Quiz Nights, Sponsored Bunny Bounce, Firework Show, Children's Film Shows, Summer Ball. This year we also had a fantastic Barn Dance and an end of term Mini Masked Ball for the Children - all these events have managed to raise over £12,000.

We are very proud of our achievements and team work. The funds raised in 2007/2008 have enabled the PTA to donate £8,000 towards the new IT Suite/Class-room, £1,500 towards a new outdoor play area, £500 for a puzzle day, £500 towards curriculum enhancement week, plus a £200 donation to each class for essential supplies.

The IT Suite/Classroom is a valuable addition to our school and the PTA have pledged to donate a further £8,000 towards the cost of this for 2008/2009 - so once again we will all be working incredibly hard on our fund-raising.

As parents to the school, we hope that you will support and enjoy the many and varied events that take place throughout the year. The PTA are always looking for people help out at events or indeed give us new fund-raising ideas. If you feel that you can lend a hand we'll be very pleased to hear from you. For further information or offers of assistance please call Anton Vamplew via the Members section of this site or see your class representative.

Hi Anton! I wonder if my son, James could possibly have a small stall at this years fete please? This will be part of the Skinners school Yr 9 Enterprise project. He will be selling wooden name badges, fude and cupcakes. I hope this will be ok. Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you. Sue Brooker.

I am an ex Langton pupil, now at TWGGS. I would like to have a stall at the Christmas bazaar to sell my Fimo (polymer clay) models, fridge magnets, cards etc. I need to raise my spending money for the TWGGS Chamber Choir tour of Italy next June. My parents have paid for the tour, but I need to contribute too, as it's very expensive! I have put together a business plan with the help of my Mum (Jan Murphy a school Governor). I think I will be able to make a profit, whilst offering items for sale which will appeal to adults and children at the right price. I hope to go on to develop my fund raising ability in the future to support further TWGGS overseas trips.
I hope the PTA will accept my request.
Thankyou, Kate Murphy
