I just came across this website that helps you request information from Government departments under the UK Freedom of Information law. It is aptly called 'WhatDoTheyKnow?' and it's says its purpose is "to help you find out inside information about what the UK government is doing." Cue the 'Conspiracy Theory' theme music. I recommend reading the requests and answers.
