Fallkniven Knives: A Small Maker Who Produces Top-Of-The-Line Blades

Fallkniven is a small Scandinavian firm that has made high-quality blades for almost a quarter of a century. Their blades are so well-regarded that they have been bought and utilized by the King of Sweden.

Unlike faceless larger knife manufacturers, Fallkniven is run by a family. Founded by hunters and fishermen, Fallkniven knives benefit from the experience and know-how of professionals in the sector. You can totally feel the uniqueness of this personalized family touch, and can even check out photos of the family on the Fallkniven website. You won't see that at a big corporate blade manufacturer!

Fallkniven has a fair claim to creating what may be among the most durable serial produced steel knives in the entire world. Utilizing solely the best stainless steels like SGPS, 3G, and VG-10, they are able to produce knives that measure greater than 60 HRC.

Fallkniven Knife Models

Fallkniven produces a moderate number of knives that break down into fewer than ten sub-categories. As with nearly all knife-manufacturers, there is some overlap in the sub-categories.

  • Fallkniven's Tre Kroner blades are constructed from 3G powdered, laminated steel heat-treated to 62 on the Rockwell scale. Their primary use is hunting. They are available in in a variety of models. TK1, TK2, TK5 and TK6 are fixed-blade models that sport contoured Cocobolo Thermorun grips with a finger protector. TK3 and TK4 are folder knives and can be ordered with a range of attractive grips, such as mother-of-pearl and black quince.
  • Utility folding knives are on the smaller side, like the U1, U2, and P. All feature drop points. They are meant for utility, lightweight use, and will prove essential for small-game hunting or angling. Several types of steel are available for these knives, such as VG10, SGPS or 3G. Grip materials include bone, Cocobolo, and Zytel. Also available are a wide array of different types of locking clasps.
  • Their Hunting and Fishing Knives comprise of the WM, the H1, the F1 and F2. The WM is a small-game blade that is also popular among trekkers and campers. The H1, their flagship hunting blade, is a larger big game hunting blade that features no finger guard. Blades are composed of VG10 or 3G steel, while grips are Thermorun or Zytel. The F1 was Fallkniven's debut blade and is for use as a survival knife, while the F2 mode, with its long slim blade, is targeted as more of a fisherman's knife.
  • Survival and Bushcraft Knives include the S1, the A1 and the A2. They are outdoor blades that feature longer, thicker blades. These knives are typically 1-2mm wider than the knives mentioned previously, at least 30 millimeters longer and a few points "softer" using the Rockwell Hardness scale. This makes these blades perfect for strenuous trail blazing. Steel in these blades is VG-10. The grip on the S1 is Thermorun and the A1/A2 is constructed from Zytel.
  • Military Knives from Fallkniven include the G1 and the MC1. The G1 is a compact, convenient knife with a non-reflective blade, while the MC1 is a huge knife for mine clearing. The two are made of VG-10 steel heat-treated to 59 HRC. The G1 features a Thermorun grip and the MC1 has a Kraton handle.
  • Fallkniven's Chef's Knives are not a core competency for the maker. But much of their knowledge gained in creating effective outdoors is appropriate for kitchen cutlery as well. Model K1 is a no-surprises 8 inch Cook's blade, while the K2 is a large Santoku blade. Both blades are crafted from laminated VG-10 steel at 59 on the Rockwell scale and sport Thermorun sure-grip handles.
  • Fallkniven Northern Light knives are made for extra-strength sportsman use. Blades are laminated VG-10 steel at 59 on the Rockwell Hardness scale, varying in size from 10cm long x 5mm thick to 250mm long x 7mm in thickness. are leather and aluminum and sport a full bolster / finger protector. The special-edition NL5cx is similar in dimension to the smallest of these blades, but features a Damascus-pattern blade made of Cowry X steel at an extreme hardness of 64HRC.
