There are a few places available for Tuesday or Thursday mornings. Please call Kathy on 01392 679674 or 07957 908015 to book your FREE trial session. Thank you! There may be a space on a Wednesday after Easter. All groups are from 10 - 11 a.m.
What happens at Kathy's House?
First we have thirty minutes of musical activity including singing, actions rhymes, movement to music, percussion instruments, puppets, etc. The babies and toddlers really enjoy this and it is fun for the adults too. Kathy is an experienced early years music teacher and with her cute pal, Sebastian, can hold even the youngest babies focus on the music. Because we are working in a relatively small space with a small group, the activity is usually fairly calm. After our music making we have a drink, snack, play with toys and a chance to chat.
Who goes to Kathy's House?
Parents, grandparents and childminders come from all over Exeter and beyond, along with children from small babies to four year olds. The maximum group size is eight families and most come with one child, but it is fine to bring three (if you have three pre-school children to look after you need all the social outlets you can get!) Children (and adults) that don't get on with big groups, large halls or high volumes are able to enjoy a music group that is fun without being overwhelming. Pickle, our cat, sometimes joins in with the groups too - she is very fond of attention and gentle with young children.
Why go to Kathy's House?
For the children: Research shows that babies and pre-school children attending music classes on a regular basis have a greater musical knowledge. When starting school and taking up instrumental lessons, so you really are giving your child a head start in music. Children involved in musical activities generally have better listening, co-operation, co-ordination, communiation and listening skills.
For you: Meet some new people and find mutual support. Remember a few old nursery rhymes you had forgotten, have fun playing with toys and instruments and then have a nice hot drink made for you! You pay per family, so it is very affordable if you are bringing more than one child.
When?
Groups are currently: 10 - 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wendesdays and Thursdays during school term time.
