Although surgery is hardly ever required for hip treatment of bursitis, sometimes surgical treatment is the last option for hip pains and it might be necessary.   If the bursa remains inflamed and painful after all of the conservative measures have failed, your physician may recommend removing the bursa.  This procedure does not cause damage to the hip, since the hip can function normally without it.

Due to advancements in medical technology, there are newer techniques which make this procedure pretty easy.  A small incision is made over the hip and a tiny camera called an arthroscope is placed in the incision.  The surgeon can guide the surgical instruments and cut out the bursa.  Recovery time is quick and you can be back to your normal activities in no time at all.

No one wants to have surgery, but if it means ridding yourself of the chronic hip pains that are currently suffering from, don’t you think it’s worth a shot?
