Back to News Written on 16-Aug-2010 by jsal10901001After months of meetings and planning we are now ready to launch the Ian Clews Memorial Folk Choral Workshop.
Ian was a headmaster and music lover who unfortunaltely passed away in 2009. He was a founder member of Concordia!, a small community choir in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. Ian had a love for folk music and it was decided by the committee of the choir that a fitting tribute would be to hold a bi-annual choral workshop with a focus on folk and traditional music.
The inaugural workshop will be in Novemeber this year (2010) on the weekend of the 6th and 7th with the performance on Saturday the 13th - more details on our website: www.webjam.com/icfcw The main work will be Malcolm Dalglish's "Hymnody of Earth" with the folk musician Sue Harris playing Hammer Dulcimer. There will also be a 2 hour Auto Harp workshop for children on the day of the performace with Mike Fenton and they will also perform in the concert.
Please feel free to look around the site and download and return a flyer. if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email us on concordia-choir-ashby@hotmail.com
Cheers,
James Allen - Musical Director
