This site will remain as it is for a few weeks yet (Posted 25/01/12)

The club started in Jan 2008 and we have an enthusiastic bunch of over 40 runners, with 6 coaches to keep them busy. Junior running is growing as a competitive sport and we are pleased to be part of this development.

From a parent: "many thanks to you and your helpers for giving up so much of your time week after week and for encouraging and inspiring all these youngsters."

EXETER 3K - DEC RACE

Despite some of our juniors resting after their exertions at the Devon X-Country Championships we still had a good turnout for the December round of the Exeter 3K Series. There were some good performances as usual but Iain Ross had most reason to celebrate. He set out to run under 12 mins for the first time and was well paced round the course by Jake Harvey. Then he came home with and with a great sprint finish and clocked 11:55, so gaining the club SILVER MEDAL.

GREAT RUNNING AT BICTON

The five club runners below took part in The Blister  Lite race on Sunday. This was  a hard 4.2 miles run from Bicton College and out over Woodbury Common. The race had 84 runners and was won by 14 year old Callum Hall in a time of  29:29. The first 4 finishers were all junior runners with 3rd and 4th being taken by our local rivals, Axe Valley, so congratulations to them. Our runners all did well and Layla was the first Junior girl to finish. This is the high standard that our team will face at the Devon championships next Sunday

EXETER 3K - NOV RACE

17 Juniors, 4 coaches and 5 parents invaded Exeter Arena last night for the 2nd of the winter 3K series.

Congratulations to Jack on achieving his Silver Award with great new PB and to Becky and Lydia for achieving their Bronze awards.

There were 11 new PB's in total so lots of very hard running. Sasha Davy ran the mile event in 6:54 so well done to her but commiserations to older sister Morgan who had to pull out of her event with an injured knee.

SPRING TERM STARTS

JANUARY 10TH

KILLERTON PARKRUN

If anyone lives within a reasonable distance of Killerton House there is something called a Parkrun that takes place every Saturday morning at 9:00am. It is a FREE 5K event around the Killerton Estate and many junior runners take part (15 last week) as well as about 100 adults. It is a very good fun event that allows someone to do a regular run without taking up too much time from a precious Saturday. It is a cross-country event so good stamina is required – the slowest Junior last week took 32 minutes so probably walked part of the way. To take part you need to register on the website before 6pm on the Friday of the week you want to run. The registration process is simple and once registered you do not need to do so again and you can take part in any of the 80+ Parkruns around the country. The registration leads to printing your own personal barcode which contains your details. You need to take the barcode with you on each run.
