Entiendo que la búsqueda pase por crear nuevos íconos arquitectónicos aprovechando las capacidades tecnológicas de hoy día, pero entre nos hay arquitectos que no se si lo hacen a propósito (estarán fumados?) o es la mirada fuera del proyecto la que nos lleva a nombrar ciertos edificios. Ya en Londres encontramos al Pepino del 30 St. Mary Axe y ahora se presentan las obras para la construcción de un nuevo rascacielos en Chicago que promete ser el segundo en "altura" del mundo diseñado por Santiago Calatrava. Dada la forma, no me queda ninguna duda...

Ok, I understand there's a need to create new icons using new technological cappabilities but honestly, I don't know if architects are really aware (or stoned?) of the symbolism they're throwing to a city or not. Finally, people names them with funny nicknames. We do know the famous "Gherkin" of 30 St. Mary Axe in London and there's a big buzz around the presentation of a new skyscrapper in Chicago promising to be the second "highest" of the world. designed by Santiago Calatrava. Given its shape I have no doubt at all!
