I believe the simplicity and the millisecond parts, but I've always thought of Google really, intentionally, as either minimalist, or non-design, since there is such little actual design and mostly a collection of links, although there is a lot of great UI design going into their applications.

That's the point, Mark. These manifesto is a bit far from the results. Taking into account the legacy of Braun, Apple could be noted as the followers of Bauhaus principles (IMHO).
