THE HELP UGANDA TRUST
Supporting the 85 Children of St Michael's Children's Home Kampala as well as others in need in Uganda
“The idea of a ’50 Club’ was conceived in mid 2008 as a ‘fun’ way to raise additional income for The Trust. Based on 50 members each paying £4 per month into a lottery with 35% of the stakes going on prizes - £50 first prize, £20 for the runner-up – and 65% going to The Trust, an income of £130 per month would be realised. However setting up and registering the Lottery, in accordance with the relevant legislation governing Betting and Gaming, with the local authority took some time and it wasn’t until February 2009 that the first draw was held. A draw is held on the last Thursday of every month at ‘The Corn Store’ in Pulborough where the results are posted up, with winners being notified by post. Members may either pay their stakes either monthly or annually, in advance, by bankers standing order.
After a slow start the membership has steadily increased as word gets round and at the time of writing stands at 35! It is hoped that the target membership of 50 will be reached by the time of the first anniversary draw in 2010.”
Why not join yourself and email your friends as well and see if they will help too! This is our International lottery - Truly making a difference
Thank you

The designer, engravers and helpers all gave their fees to The Help Uganda Trust, a charity that they have supported for many years. We received a cheque for £1,609
Our thanks to Majella Taylor and all the team of engravers and helpers who made this project possible.
This August, Daniel Brickwood a young man from Walton on Thames travelled to Uganda to help the young people in S tMichael's with daily classes. As importantly he brings back thoughts of his visit which he shares here. Some months on and the children still talk of what they learned.
