Fire Station

Faller Model 130988 Central Fire Station "Premium" Model

Faller's description of this kit:
Monumental block of several buildings of a fire station, built in imitation of Fire Station 1 in Nuremberg.

The PREMIUM Model contains:
• A block of several buildings in the architectural style of the turn of the century with hose drying tower and 5 vehicle parking places.
• Three rolling shutter gates on both sides of the central building, all six gates simultaneously opening and closing by means of the drive unit supplied.
• Two not functioning hall gates in the annexed building.
• A fire alarm siren and an electronic control unit allowing the operation of three vehicles of the FALLER car system according to the following procedure:
Up to three vehicles can be made to stop above the parking coils (not supplied ) in the hall. An external switching pulse triggers the operation. The siren sounds, all six gates open, the vehicles start one after the other. After fighting the fire, the vehicles return to the respective parking places and all gates close automatically. The parking areas are intended for vehicles up to 109 mm long.
For operation with the car system it is necessary to purchase the required parking coils and sensors according to the supplied instructions.
A functioning model that will make realistic fire fighting operations possible on your model railway installation. The suitable vehicles can be found in the car system line.

Guyston Fire Station

So here it is - took a while to complete, but works well.  You press a button, the sirens start, three gates rear and three gates at the front raise.  Then the parking space stop coil (Faller 161674) which is inside the fire station is de-energised, so that any vehicle that you have on the coil starts moving. Once you've put out the fire you press another button and the gates lower again

Putting out the fire

I made a small loop of faller car wire that come from the parking stop magnet inside the fire station, goes to the side of the central road, sweeps in front of the sex shop (!)...and stops in front of two burning buildings (There's only one finished at the moment).  I've put a stop magnet outside the building so the fire engine stops until it is released (I'll probably change it so that the release of the engine co-incides with the flames (flashing bulb!) being put out).  The fire engine then goes back in to the fire station at the rear and the gates close.  You can see it in this video (The grey line going across the picture is the monorail track)

Here's a slightly different angle - if you turn the sound up you can hear the fire siren

And here's some more vids of the mechanism
