B.A.S.I.C. Training @First

is the name of the new education format for children and youth on Sunday mornings beginning on February 4th at 9:30 a.m.

Based on Proverbs 22:6, Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

B.A.S.I.C. Training stands for:

  •
    •
        • Bible-centered stories using
        • Activities that have a hands-on approach to learning and retention;
        • Spiritual relationships forming between teacher and student with
        • Intergenerational ages learning from each other; and,
        • Christ-centered teachings that will grow children and youth in their faith.

CONSTRUCTION ZONE AHEAD!!! CHANGES COMING TO K-12 SUNDAY SCHOOL

Introducing BASIC Training! On February 7 a new program to take the place of traditional

Sunday School.  No longer will it be called Sunday School, but Sunday morning children and youth Christian Education will now be called BASIC Training.  BASIC Training is designed to meet the challenges that we have been facing over the last many years with children and youth Sunday School attendance.  BASIC Training is a rotational workshop curriculum that includes repeated application of each month’s Bible lesson through various hands on workshops including; art, story, cooking, video & tech, computers, science, and games, with the potential for more.

All students in grades K-12 will meet together to begin each BASIC Training session and learn about a Bible story and the month’s related theme. Then, depending on the number of students present that day, we will either continue as one group or split up into 2 age groups to attend the accompanying workshops. We will all come back as one group at the close of each session to tie things all together.

There are many advantages to this program that meet the challenges that we have been facing. There will still be at least 2 adults, often times more, teaching and working with the students every week.

BASIC Training will continue through May.

We look forward to seeing how God will use this program to help us continue raising up the children and youth of this Church in Jesus Christ and in the Christian faith

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please give Aaron Christy or Debbie Derrenbacher a call. We hope this program will make a big impression on your child.
