ymKingdom Family Works - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge....Proverbs 1:7
In regards to our children Jesus had this to say in the book of Matthew, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them. For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."
Our children are so precious and as parents we want to make it possible for them to have the best life. Are we neglecting the one thing that they need to have a good and moral life? They need to have a firm foundation in the Word of God. They need to know about God, learn about prayer, and understand the teachings of the Bible. They are not going to be taught these things in a school where prayer is no longer allowed. They may not even be taught these things in church if they are removed from regular church service. In some churches children are sent to Sunday school areas to color or have other play activities. While this is a pleasant experience for them and allows the parents to concentrate more on church service it may not be enough time for the child to learn about the Word of God. So many times the children may not be learning about God at home for various reasons. They may not be learning about God at school. They also may be learning very little about God at some churches. What I would like to have is a little section dedicated to learning some ways to help children study the Word of God. Consider this. If they are not learning the Word of God they are learning something that is not as beneficial to them. Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go."
Having personal Bible studies with your child is a perfect way to bond with your child. You and your child can learn the Word of God together.Think about showing your child the name of God in the Bible when he or she is just a toddler. Surely this could only stimulate interest in the Bible in books and also help to develop reading skills. Early writing skills could also be developed in the same way. Starting with the written name of the child and the written name of God.
My personal opinion is that Christian children should begin to navigate through the Bible at an early age. This means that they should begin to be familiar with the books of the Bible. They should also be familiar with Bible stories. It is interesting to me that very young children are being taught how to use the computer but we think they are too young to sit through a church service with us.
One of my favorite television game shows is Jeopardy which has a Bible category. So these people are getting paid money for their knowledge of the Bible when that category comes up. Someone believes that the Bible category is captivating and important enough to have on national television.
