I spied a great new webjam today. In Suspense is a brilliant new site for everyone living in Bristol - specifically the Clifton area. It's a great example of using webjam to create a site for your community. Anyone can do this and create something really special for their local area.
What I like most about this, is that it's an extension of the print magazine. The site itself is still pretty new, but hopefully it'll grow along with their publication. They're looking for more writers and really want people to get involved so make sure you drop them a line if you're a local!
Got a great Family Life webjam you want to shout about? Let everyone know about it!

Written on 31-Oct-2008 by SianMeadesThe Webjam Family Life channel is all about bringing families together. I'm going to share my favourite recipes with you so you can do just that! You can share your recipes with us too. Just tell us in the forum.
Chocolate cherry brownies.
Rich, decadent and stupidly unhealthy. These are perfect as a treat for the weekend.
These brownies are a take on the famous Nigel Slater brownies I made a while ago. I couldn't get any dark chocolate, so I adapted the recipe.I think these turned out much better than the original. you don't have to add the cherry liqueur if you don't want to, but it will make them taste a little stronger.
You could serve them with ice cream, but they taste best with a strong cup of coffee.
You will need:
300g caster sugar
250g butter
250g Green & Blacks cherry chocolate.
3 large eggs plus 1 extra yolk.
60g plain flour
60g cocoa powder
½ tsp baking powder
Cherry liquer.
What you need to do:
Preheat the oven to 180C (Gas mark 4) and grease a square baking tin. (You can use a round tin, but you'll get funny shaped treats.)
Beat the eggs and sugar into a fluffy cloud.
Chops up 50g of chocolate (try not to eat half of it) and melt the rest - in a pan is better than microwave as the cherries will burn. Add two tablespoon of the liquer.
Beat the eggs and mix into the sugar and butter mixture. (The extra egg yolk stops the mixture from being spongey so it's gooier in the middle.)
Sieve the flour, cocoa and baking powder, add a pinch of salt.
Add the melted chocolate and chocolate pieces to the egg mix and then gently fold in the flour mixture. (That's the figure of eight motion you see clever TV chefs doing.)
Put into the oven for half an hour (keep an eye on it after twenty minutes). You want a few crumbs to stick on a knife. Then it's ready.
Leave to cool and then slice into square. Watch them dissappear!

Written on 30-Oct-2008 by SianMeadesRemember all of those fantastic toys from your childhood? For me, it was a penguin helter skelter. I always really really wanted one and never ever got one. (Don't even get me started on not having a Play D'oh Barber Shop.) I'm not entirely bitter though (really). I also had lots of My Little Pony to play with and they were brilliant.
Toys never ever seem as good now as they were then. The new Gone Retro Toys webjam is perfect for chatting about your favourite toys of the past.
It's a pretty new webjam, but it's a great theme for a webjam and a brilliant design. I'm really excited to see what other toys people were playing with when they were kids.
Did anyone actually have a Play D'oh Barber Shop?

"I thought it would be great to allow a big community to get to know one another." Says Marcus. "That doesn't happen in a big city like London."
The Webjam residential template is perfect for local areas, but this residents community template is even better for smaller communities such as apartment buildings, or even office space. You can get to know the people who live and work right next to you.
We've also added a new residential template to the templates page. Let us know what you think, and tell us if you make your own residents webjam!
