Our first really chilly morning of the winter and we are away to Bookham Colts, a team we have never lost too.   So confidence should be high but our season has been a bit of a roller coaster (on the down slope) so best not to be over confident!!  From the off we look bright on the ball and move well down the left with Adam and Tyri combining passes and looking threatening.  However, pushing forward we are caught yet again on the break and as with many games this season we concede the first goal.  Not the ideal start and I am worried that the boys confidence will suffer as a result.  We are running up the slope and into the sun and the wind, so its not the easiest conditions.  However as in many games this season we make all the running and have the best of the play. After a good deal of pressure we finally make the break thru just before halftime when Sy fires our first goal.  So in at the break and 1 - 1.  Now is the important time where we cannot afford to concede early in the second half as we have done in previous matches.  Now its our turn to get some luck and take the game to Bookham.  Sy makes a good run down the left and fires in a low cross towards Tyri at the far post, unluckily for Bookham and luckily for us a Bookham defender turns it into his own net before Tyri can get to it.  We now look like dominating and with Tom directing the midfield we continue to threaten the Bookham goal.  Sy steps up once again and fires another great goal for us and we look like cruising to victory. For some reason a high ball into the box prompts a Bookham defender into a handball and we gain a penalty and Sy steps up to earn his first hat trick in an Eagle shirt.  He hits it smartly to the keepers left but the keeper is equal to it and makes an excellent save.  Not to be outdone 2 minutes later Sy steps up and clinches his 3rd to put us 4 - 1 up.  However as in previous games we lose concentration at the back and let Bookham back in with a well taken shot at the near post.  William rejoins the game and makes an instant impact with two mazy runs leaving Bookham defenders in his wake but he can't quite get his final shots on target, and then the referee blows for time.  Our first win since the 23rd February, and a good performance by all the boys, not our best by any means, we have played better and lost, but an important victory to get us off the bottom of the table.  MOTM match goes to Sy for his Hat Trick a great achievement, I'd also like to pick out Tom for an excellent game, well done to both of you.
