The Giants are reported to leave markers and formations at the edge and within their territory. Some researchers believe these markers are significant indicators of the Giant's presence in the area. Such markers are tee pee formations, X-formations,
tree bows, limb twists, rock piles and intricate limb weaving. We can only guess as to the true nature of these unusual finds whether they are a true act of nature or actual sign of intelligent life. We also can only theorize the true meaning of the sign.
Researchers have discovered that there are similarities through out the country on sign finds. There are also variances due to type of timber in the area. The photograph, taken in Central Oklahoma is an example of limb weaving . The researcher who took this picture could not discern any natural way this could have occurred.
Tee pee formations are rare and beautiful finds. They are found often deep within territories and come in a variety of sizes. Larger tee-pee formations are creative and their purpose remains largely unknown. The larger tee-pee formation on the left was photographed in Jasper county, Texas. The area was very active at the time. Access to this area has been barred due to the widespread damage of Hurricane Rita.
Smaller tee-pee formations do have a seemingly specific purpose. More experienced researchers believe they indicate food sources, a sort of natural menu. Smaller formations are found along trails and trail heads. Upon examining the markers, they have discovered that most contain branches from different fruit or nut bearing trees and bushes.
The photograph below was taken in an Angelina County research area. The complexity of the formation has never been found by myself since. The formation was enormous and did not appear to be natural. It consisted of a tree bow, an X formation and a tee-pee formation combined into a giant work of art.
X formations are generally found along rivers and facing roadways. The theory is that the Giants travel rivers, creeks and roads and as these land intersections are often human property boundaries, they may be territorial boundaries for the Giants as well. It is believed as in our property system that creeks, rivers and roads are public access ways. The same probably holds true for the Giants as well. So if this is the case, X formations will appear on border lines of territories. As this country began to populate and land was taken up, witness trees became a common land marker. Witness trees bore a painted or carved X on the trunk. Since we firmly believe that the Giants were inhabitants of this country long before we began our civilization, it would be interesting to know who copied who.
X formations are often found with one side being a pushed over tree while the other side has no evidence of a connecting root system.
Tree bows are commonly found over trails or roadways. It appears to be a futile attempt to keep trespassers out. It has been said that a series of tree bows could indicate a direction marker. There are trees that bow naturally such as elms and some diseased pine saplings. It takes a good deal of force to weaken the bark of a pine sapling or tree to create the bow. It is speculation but most think that the bows are created by Giants climbing the trees and swinging into a hanging position where they remain until the tree is bowed over their chosen location. Below is a picture of a tree bow over an old logging trail.
