Toronto design firm Teehan+Lax has made a lot of interface designers happy by releasing a fully editable photoshop file containing iPhone buttons, sliders, screens, icons, etc; a full kit of iPhone assets to use in creating mockups for presentations of a prototype wireless application. You can download it here. Of course, as was made very clear on the T+L blog, creating a mockup of an interface in Photoshop is a bit different than working on functionality and testing usability by paying $99-299 to join the Apple iPhone Developer Program and using the iPhone SDK, which has all of the graphics built in. So having said that, thanks again to the folks at Teehan+Lax from anyone who needs to put together a quick iPhone application mockup, or even a complete mockup of an iPhone web app or Safari screen.

Design under the spotlight - C'est si bon

The new Design under the spotlight is an absolute stunner. Showing us the versatility of what can be done with the style editor, Bonny's webjam "C'est si Bon!" is a great pice of creative work.

I think the designs are now coming in thick and fast, and this is the standard we need more of on Webjam! Congratulations to you Bonny and the rest of you design gurus who are constantly stretching the performance of Webjam's design capabilities. Keep it going!

A webjam user, a teenager from the US, as part of the development of her fantasy character is creating some images that I find quite interesting.

Check the following one:

Her fictional character is some kind of giant alien leopard that enjoys flying around on top of passenger planes (?).
I found the strange flat coulored organic shape that hugs the plane very aesthetically appealing, as it mixes two incompatible realities in a very naif way, with no pretensions of realism. In this particular case the "sublime" presence of the snowy mountain gives a sense of inmediate catastrophe.

quite amazing stuff...

A new web tool in the line of Aviary and Photoshop Express, 280 Slides is pretty similar to Apple Keynote but you can create your own presentations and access them from everywhere and share them. You can download your files in Powerpoint format, use their themes, add photos from Flickr and movies from YouTube. In addition, it's totally free.

Design under the spotlight - Brand 3.0

We try not to repeat "Design under the spotlight" (previously "Design of the week) but Brand 3.0 has been chosen again after popular demand due to the innovative use of a custom navigation module. Brand 3.0 has used image links as their navigation option. Fantastic 'outside the box' thinking on how to use Webjam and the available modules. Thoroughly deserved nomination - well done Brand 3.0!

Note: You can replicate this by using either the rich text or HTML module. If you are a CSS master (or even beginner), you can add inline CSS to make some really cool effects to your new navigation module!

Designers unite

As a creative bunch on this webjam, perhaps we could try a new concept based on the blog created by 'Brand 3.0' and 'Hey Design!' where Julio and Cris worked together to create a collaborative blog, we could all create a collaborative design.

As you can see the Art, Design & Usability blog has got a new skin (after popular demand) but it is a basic, almost blank canvas. WebjamDesigners invites all members to copy this style and enhance it. Then simply post a message on the forum (under the Collaborative design topic) with a link to the new design, which we will then update here! (Please make sure that you allow people to copy it!) Everytime the design is updated, it gives a new starting point for the next person/people!

Let's see what we can create together! The only restrictions are that is must still be compatible with the Webjam style editor so that others can use it if they wish, and you use the WebjamDesigners logo somewhere in the header. That's it!

Seven Deadly Glasses

Getty Images had produced this interesting tool (but not very useful yet) to create moodboards.

Basically it presents you with different music, video footage and pictures of their collection based on a number of variables. Play with the different sliders, refresh the stream and discover new stuff.

The tool and the images look really nice, it a shame you have to refresh the screen and preload the images everytime you change your mood.

It showcases the power of good human based tagging.
