JAM is 7 jaar! Het is alweer 7 lentes geleden dat de starters van een gezelschap van 3 vrienden, drie potjes JAM van de willemsbrug in rotterdam afmieterde om de wensen wat betreft hun samenkomen uit te zien komen. 

7 jaar verder hebben we:

*er een partner bij...
*zijn we verhuisd naar DE enige echte garage in de Bijlmer...
*hebben we een reeks toffe stagiairs gehad (en een taiwaneese afstudeerder)
*zijn we over de grenzen gegaan om ons kunstje in het buitenland te delen....
*hebben we onze kennis omgezet naar academisch deelbaar goed...
*Zijn we bewust van onze situatie vanwege onze betrokkenheid in Business Model Generation...
*Krijgen we steeds meer grip op onze cultuur en onze drijfveren... gecoached en wel!
*Zijn we verrijkt met een fantastische groep aan JAMMERS en groeit ons netwerk van mensen die begrijpen wat we proberen te doen...
*Zijn we doorgegroeit van tekenaars tot visueel denkers...
*Hebben we een heus project management programma dat werkt... Daylite rocks!
*Begint er een taaltje te ontstaan rondom wat we doen
*Hebben we 10-tallen kilo’s aan papier opgeslagen aan origineel denk en schetswerk...

en hebben we sinds kort lekker zittende Herman Miller stoelen...

Er is vast nog wel veel meer, maar we gaan dat ik de volgende 7 vette jaren lekker uitzoeken! Bedankt aan iedereen die er was en tot op JAMBOOK!

On the 1st of February we finally got to make our peace with the TU Delft. We got to tell our story of "Draw2Design" and most importantly DARE2DRAW to the 290 eager masterstudents of the faculty of Industrial design in Delft...our source. It was an invigorating morning of drawing together, which was complimented by and afternoon of high pressure sketching for real-live clients! Great atmosphere and a gracefull group of 3 at the end of the day.

This has all the makings of a very sustainable story!  Hope to keep on telling the story of SKETCH!

JAM was commitioned by DELTARES to teach students in Singapore how to report ideas that emerge from problem solving sessions. Wouter and Joost will post a more extensive report after monday...First conquer the jetlag! Here is a taste of Joost:

New year new vibe! Our old environment was getting to cluttered, which means time for something new! 

Tristan was the JAMboy in charge to plan and cut the steel needed for our 11 new mobile scaffolding oak desktops! Great way to end 2010 and start 2011!

Joost just added a splash of wire to the wall and presto! A NEW JAM GARAGE vibe. This year is going to bring about a lot of change...so we need deskspace!

A new year needs the right kind of choices.... and those all start with a good lunch...served this year by our very own Tulsa!

The IOB this year was a success in many ways. The most important one being that we decided to focus on our Sketch culture and make the feeling of SKETCH more relevant and visible for the students of industrial design. We were joined in our flowing sessions by Konijn Design who has been developing a prototype Sketch table for shared thinking moments. This morning Mike and I discussed the possibilities of an insert in the GPS Master week, starting the 31st of January 2011. Together with Annemiek van Boeijen, Esther Zwijnenberg en Professor Pieter-Jan Stappers we explored the basis JAM needs to create and facilitate a valuable addition to the Generic Productivity Skills program. This cross master platform will work at exposing the skills that are shared by all masters. JAM will get one whole day to give 250 master students the opportunity to explore the effects of thinking with sketches. The 1st of february will be the day!

After lunch I was invited to take part in a jurypanel judging 9 digital sketch enthusiasts for their efforts in sketching out a product. The winner received a WACOM intuos pad. After finishing judging I tal;ked with Peter Kurstjens about some work and development with WACOM.
I also met up with Sanne Kistenmaker of the MUZUS who opened my eyes to LASERCUTTING! Fablab here we come!

Tommorrow is time to reset and rest my legs. Thinking about a building filled with JAMmed enthusiasts sketching their thoughts to new levels...together!

Today JAM was present at the Yearly Business Fair of industrial design. The day started with the JAMABLE victory of the opening Draw-off. Dennis whipped the floor with the cintiq and the COPIC airbrush using simple edding markers (red and black) on big paper. Students love results! On wednesday JAM attended the wonderfully organized Business Model Generation event, which was held on the SS Rotterdam. The event was a great succes! I will post my notes later this week, but vor now here is a look at the venue and a link to the organizers:
