Field Research Intern with the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise
Part-time; Spring Term (January-March)
The Commission for Youth Social Enterprise (CYSE) is seeking qualified applicants for its Field Research Internship for the spring term of 2009 (Jan-March) in London or a variety of other locations. Interns will assist our team of young social enterpreneurs in conducting field interviews with other leading social enterpreneurs, experts, and youth in the UK.
Description:
Interns will be work directly with the Commission's Bright Young Minds-- 21 of Britain’s top young social entrepreneurs-- to conduct field interviews as part of a larger research project on youth and social enterprise. This position is part-time and unpaid but the schedule is flexible. Candidates should be enthusiastic with excellent communication skills, computer skills, and an interest in youth and social enterprise. We are seeking a broad range of talents and will consider applications from all ages. Applicants with previous experience conducting interviews and research or recording and editing video are encouraged to apply.
Responsiblities:
Researching and seeking out experts in social enterprise
Scheduling interviews and coordinating a crew of researchers
Conducting interviews
Recording via videocamera interviews
Editing video into usable segiments
Transcribing interviews
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience conducting interviews and research
- Previous experience recording and editing video
- Interest in youth and social enterprise
- Excellent administrative skills
- Good interpersonal skills
Application will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 7th. Selection of interns will occur the week of December 15th and interns will begin in January.

Policy Research Intern with the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise

Interns will conduct research on youth and social enterprise in the UK. CYSE's research project seeks to answer the question, "How can society equip young people to make a lasting positive impact on their world?" CYSE's research team will be conducting original qualitative and quantitative research aiming to publish several reports and making recommendations to government bodies next year.

Searching online sources for documents and reports on youth and social enterprise
Analyzing research materials
Conducting a broad literature review on youth and social enterprise in the UK
Summarizing scholarly articles and compiling an annotated bibliography
Proofreading and editing reports
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience conducting desk research
- Interest in youth and social enterprise
- Excellent writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills
