Users without Designers
the designer's new role
symposium 11/11/2010

On the morning of November 11, 9.30 - 13.00, ID-StudioLab organizes a symposium on the changes that new developments (open design, end-user manufacturing, co-creation, DIY design) imply for the designer. Some have proclaimed that this would mean "the end of design as we know it". Others think that it will "radically change the skills needed".

In the symposium, an international panel of five design researchers and educators will give their view on these developments. We welcome design students, practitioners, researchers and educators to the event. Admission is free, but please register so we can be sure there are enough seats and coffees.

ps on the day before the symposium, the speakers are opponents in the PhD defense of Daniel Saakes: Shape Does Matter, designing materials in products, in which related projects are explored, shown and discussed. That also is a public event at TU Delft, and starts at 12:00 (for more info, see here). On this day, Daniel will introduce this topic based on his work.
