I don't know about you, but I thought this year's event was the best ever. It felt really relaxed, you sang better than other years and everyone seemed to have a good time. Thank you and well done! Isn't it good when your guests help clear up too!

Don't forget - we start agin on Monday, Jan. 9th and 7.30pm in the Methodist Schoolroom.

For those who haven't yet - and there are a few - please return your Abba music. There are new 'goodies' for the new year.

Have a great Christmas and New Year.

Well done, everybody!!

Great Concert!!

Lots of favourable comments. Yes - we could find some faults - but could the audience. Anyway, if we were perfect there'd be nothing to aim for. I think we might put Abba to bed for a while now.

Look forward to seeing you on Monday. just a few rehearsals to do a bit of Christmas music.

Thin Altos

0 Comments- Add comment Written on 25-Oct-2011 by Delboy2009

The altos were very thin last night - in number! (And I'm sure in other ways.) In fact the whole choir was a bit thin on the ground. I'm sure there were many good reasons. It was a pretty good rehearsal despite this. So well done to all who were there.

Anyway, only 4 Monday rehearsals before our next concert, so I urge you all to try your best to come to those (one of which is a Gardening Club night.) You're all needed.

"The Sixteen" at the Minster - "The Seventeen" at the Chapel

"The Sixteen" are performing at Southwell Minster soon, but "The Seventeen" sang on Monday night at the Methodist Church. Yes, it was one of those weeks. Not only Gardening Club but PCC as well. Result - 14 dedicated singers at the rehearsal. But, all was not lost! As has happened in the past, it was a very successful practice. We even learnt some new stuff. The rest of you will have to catch up next time. Well done to those who were there!

Another 'well done' to all those who sang at the 'Feast' on Saturday. Outside singin may not be ideal, but our smallish audience were very appreciative and I think we got to some folk who we might ordinarily hear us. Perhaps they will in future.

Don't forget - we restart soon -

Monday, Sept. 5th, 7.30, Methodist Church.

There are a few favourites to polish up for the Cropwell Feast weekend, then a concert at the Methodist Chapel to prepare for. Enjoy your Bank Holiday, if you're doing something different, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Last engagements and AGM

The season ended with our second prestigious engagement; the Civic Service at Colston Bassett, complete with our smart new performance folders. We received many positive comments, not least from the Mayor himself.

Then the Cropwell Bishop Celebration Weekend concert in St Giles. Most people I think will agree that the concert itself was a great improvement over the previous year and our Rhythm of Life was something that will be remembered.

Thanks to all those who went to the AGM. Quite a few decisions were made and there was some lively discussion - a bit too lively for Jim who really wanted tot get to the food and drink! We did do eventually, of course, and very nice it was too.And another AGM birthday!

See you all in September.

Choir Ups Its Performance

With 2 weeks to go to our next engagement, Cropwell Bishop Singers pulled out all the stops at yesterday's rehearsal. The soaring sopranos, ethereal altos,  tenaceous tenors (all 2 of them!) and the booming basses filled the room with enthusiastic sound. Well done, everyone!

One more Monday rehearsal for the mayor plus the Saturday extra, if you can make it. (Reminder: 10am, Sat. 18th June, St John's, Colston Bassett)

Another Bank Holiday!

But what a great turn-out! And well done! It was a very good and useful rehearsal with the Sheila at the piano again.

Two more rehearsals before the mayoral civic service, so all hands to the pumps, noses the grindstone etc, and final preparations in the next two rehearsals, as well as the Village Weekend preparations, of course.

Update on music copies: just short of 1 Howard Goodall (23rd Psalm) now and 4 Down to the River. (Beginning to think I'm being delusional over the latter.)
