We start rehearsing again on MONDAY 9th January. We'll be in the schoolroom.

Great Concert!!

Lots of favourable comments. Yes - we could find some faults - but could the audience. Anyway, if we were perfect there'd be nothing to aim for. I think we might put Abba to bed for a while now.

Anyway, only 4 Monday rehearsals before our next concert, so I urge you all to try your best to come to those (one of which is a Gardening Club night.) You're all needed.

Another 'well done' to all those who sang at the 'Feast' on Saturday. Outside singin may not be ideal, but our smallish audience were very appreciative and I think we got to some folk who we might ordinarily hear us. Perhaps they will in future.

Monday, Sept. 5th, 7.30, Methodist Church.

There are a few favourites to polish up for the Cropwell Feast weekend, then a concert at the Methodist Chapel to prepare for. Enjoy your Bank Holiday, if you're doing something different, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Then the Cropwell Bishop Celebration Weekend concert in St Giles. Most people I think will agree that the concert itself was a great improvement over the previous year and our Rhythm of Life was something that will be remembered.

Thanks to all those who went to the AGM. Quite a few decisions were made and there was some lively discussion - a bit too lively for Jim who really wanted tot get to the food and drink! We did do eventually, of course, and very nice it was too.And another AGM birthday!

One more Monday rehearsal for the mayor plus the Saturday extra, if you can make it. (Reminder: 10am, Sat. 18th June, St John's, Colston Bassett)

Two more rehearsals before the mayoral civic service, so all hands to the pumps, noses the grindstone etc, and final preparations in the next two rehearsals, as well as the Village Weekend preparations, of course.

Update on music copies: just short of 1 Howard Goodall (23rd Psalm) now and 4 Down to the River. (Beginning to think I'm being delusional over the latter.)

Don't forget - we will be meeting next Monday and all the bank holiday ones too. See you on Monday (unless you're a gardener.)

A great rehearsal on Monday, despite having to sing everything acapella. I'm sure we're on track for our Butler concert, as long as we get good attendance and hard work. I think we've Turn Turn Turned a corner and You've Raised Us Up ready for the concert!

Great rehearsal tonight. I was a bit concerned after last week's not so good one, but my faith in you is restored. It's all systems go now to our April concert. Please make a special effort to get to rehearsals if you are at all able. If you can practise your part at home, that would help a lot - and help those around you.

YOUR CHOIR NEEDS YOU!!

We'll be working quite a bit with Richard Rodgers in the coming weeks, so there'll be a lot of nostalgia for many of us. But we'll also be completing our present Abba collection and, no doubt, one or two other bits and pieces.

Next week we'll be a bit thin on the ground, it being both Gardening Club week and Church Council. So, if you don't belong to either of those two groups, be there or be square (not very original, I know!).

Don't forget, we're back singing in the usual place on January 10th.

The cold of the night outside was soon dispelled by the warmth of the singing ('What's he after?') and the efficient heating of the Chapel Schoolroom. Next week is a Gardening Club week, so numbers will be down anyway. I hope as many of the rest of you will be able to come so we can finalise what we will sing at the social the following week.

Speaking of the social, don't forget to invite your friends for the 20th in the Memorial Hall. 7.30pm start. Music, food and drink - what more could you want to start Christmas and banish the cold. Dress as for Butler i.e. single colour top, black below waist.

Give yourselves a big pat on the back. That was a great performance at Beckett School on Thursday. That's the first time we have had an audience who didn't come to hear us, but, from the reaction,  I think they enjoyed it.

Next stop the Royal Albert Hall!

Just so you don't get too complacent, it was very good last night, but it's going to get better. Tweaking next week and perfection on Nov 11th.

Next Monday is the only rehearsal left before Rawlings Court. Please make a big effort. We'll be singing tried and tested songs which we will revise and polish up at the rehearsal. After that, we've really got to work hard for the 'big Rushcliffe event'.

If you see Margaret Brentnall in the next week, ask her if she's got any sun cream left!
