There is a group on Facebook called RAF Telecomms past and present. Many photos, some of comcens and radio rooms. Mostly the younger generation after my time though. Link is : http://www.facebook.com/groups/32156132565/ (you need to ask permission to join).
It is pretty humid here at the moment, although not enough to fire up the a/c's. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and the dropping back a little on Monday. Every day we have the threat of thunderstorms...... seems like a normal bank holiday back in the U.K.
....and we are back..... Nice couple of days away, Ocean City is tooling up for the big Memorial Day weekend and everyone is expecting bigger than usual crowds as it seems a lot of people are also blowing off Friday as well. Good luck to them, I prefer it more or less like it was Tuesday and Wednesday, just a few people around.
Reporting in from the parking lot of the Tanger Outlet Mall, Rehoboth Beach, DE. I just can't be bothered to wander around the outlet stores. I was in the Levis outlet for about 10 minutes, knew my size, knew the type of jeans I wanted, selected them and then out again. SWMBO is still in there and has been for the past 30 minutes. Fairly warm here, upper 60's but it is pretty humid. Our hotel is right down on the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD, about 30 to 40 miutes away from here.
Tomorrow I will be on my way to Ocean City, MD, for 3 fun filled days.....lol Today it is warmer up in NY than down on the coast in MD. Hopefully the weather will get better.
Thanks for the link Kev, I hadn't been to the BBC website yet. They do seem to be a bit over the top, even for an over the top religion like the Amish practice. I was a bit surprised at how dirty the kids were said to be, I haven't seen many Amish, and never been into one of their homes, but they always seem clean, and their clothing, although plain, looks OK.
iPad continuing saga: Well I am absolutely amazed at the brilliance of the iPad. Its well worth paying the extra to get this superb product. I have my Android tablet back again, yes its good but not a patch on the iPad. I would certainly look at getting an iPhone as my next phone and maybe, maybe changing to a Mac for my next pc. My advice to someone wanting a tablet ........ pay a bit extra and get the iPad2.
interesting, over the years I have not been an Apple man but your comments have prompted me to look at the reviews of the new iPad. So far I have been more in tune with Android tablets.
Oh don't get me wrong Mike the Android system is super but in all cases a lot cheaper than Ipad and that cheapness is reflected in the superiority of the Ipad system. I wouldn't put anyone off buying an Android tablet .... I have one of each now lolololol
I agree totally Kev, if I had Pad envy then it would be the iPad for sure. iPhone is good, but my son ditched his, mainly because at the time it was tied to only AT&T, and even in Las Vegas he got spotty reception. Like the iPad it is worth spending the extra to get a Mac, you get pretty good support via the Apple Store, until of course your beloved machine reaches 5 years old then it is obsolete.
To those of us who braved the roads in Singapore in our beat up old 60's British cars, you will be happy to note that driving has not improved now that we have gone
Saw my tax dollars at work this morning. Its raining cats and dogs, and a town tractor comes down the road with a mowing attachment. He went around and cut all the verges, or at least where he could get in. I guess they had to be done, but something about doing it in the middle of a storm just didn't seem right......lol
yes rain has stopped and our reservoirs are near full now. It is getting cooler now down to 25c so going into winter at the end of the month. The sun will be with you from then on..
I have been trying to convince myself that I need an iPad but haven't so far. I am looking at getting a new 15.4" MacBookPro. As soon as the new ones come out, the current crop will reduce in price. Glad you came around the the half bitten Apple.....
The plug for charging has a usb attached to it. It just a case of pulling it free and plugging into your laptop. If you have syncronised it goes ahead automatically, in your case it wouldnt be a problem as you have a mac.
Interesting, I have been thinking about a tablet. Been looking at the Samsung range. Not really looked at the new Ipad. Technology improving so I did not rush into a purchase. Still undecided.
I bought the Ipad2 (the latest retails around £500, a too bit much for me) its a superb piece of equipment, very fast and reliable. The Android had more apps, especially free ones but I wouldn't swop the Ipad now.
I think the days of massive RAF and Army bases have gone for good. I read today that the MoD is changing its mind about catapult launched fighters from the 'new' carriers and going for vertical liftoff planes just like the harriers they got rid of a few months ago. Unbelievavle bunch of idiots we have in government.
You probably don't realize the master plan Kev..... mind you aren't alone no one else knows about it either. No doubt the catapults are already in place on the carriers, or should that just be carrier, so it will mean more money spent on putting those ramp things on the front. I seem to remember the guy who had the idea for those ramps got a princely 25 quid as he was in one of the services at the time.
Among infantry and armoured units facing the sack are 5 Rifles, The Coldstream Guards, 3 Mercian and 2 Royal Reg of Fusiliers as proposed by our wonderful coalition government. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and 5 Scots are in the firing line too.
There are four regiments to be disbanded in Scotland Black Watch the Argyls and 2 others cant remenber them off hand but are in the daily record today....
